wine week: sparkling inspiration
We believe there’s a grape to suit any event, time of day, and budget – whether you’re craving a casual afternoon refreshment or the perfect beverage for a fancy dinner party. But there’s one genre of wine that is specially reserved for celebrations: the sparkling variety. And with good reason! What could be more festive, more congratulatory, more fete-worthy than a beautiful bubbly? The very pop of the cork is enough to put us in a jovial mood.
So cheers to whatever occasion you find bubble-worthy — and make sure to always have a few shimmery outfits to match.
Prosecco is a sparkling wine that hails from Italy — one that is a little more fruity than the typical champagne. It’s your classic bubbly, with a little bite! General tasting notes: pears, apples, honey.
Our recommendations: La MarcaProsecco di Conegliano-Valdobbiadene; Jimmy Choo key fob, DKNY paillette-embellished silk skirt, alice + olivia Radha Beaded Shift Dress, Miu Miu studded glitter sneakers and glitter pumps, Dolce&Gabbana bag, Vince Camuto sequin chain mail earrings, and our multiplEYE™ lash enhancing liquid eyeliner.
Champagne is the reigning sparkling wine; only bubbles produced in a strictly traditional method using grapes from the Champagne region of France can qualify as true “Champagne” — a nice peice of trivia to toss around at dinner parties, especially ones that feature the famous French concoction. General tasting notes: citrus, honey, toast
Our recommendations: Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs; Chloe ballet flats, Alex Monroe gold orchid earrings, our emphasEYES™ inner rim brightener, Rebecca Taylor mini-dress, Stella McCartney Clara whispering satin bra, Christian Louboutin Loubi Lula clutch, Gorjana star bracele and Nicholas Kirkwood glitter-finished sandals.
Pink (Rosé) Champagne
Pink champagne is made by adding a small amount of red wine to regular champagne, or (most traditionally) by allowing clear champagne grape juice to come into contact with dark grape skins for a short period of time during production.
General tasting notes: strawberry, honey, toast.
Our recommendations: Perrier-Jouet Belle Epoque Rosé; Elizabeth and James chiffon shorts, Jimmy Choo clutch, Oscar de la Renta rose gold necklace, Cutler and Gross cat eye glasses, Kenneth Jay Lane crystal ring, our Amazonian clay 12-hour shimmering blush in glisten and J. Crew’s Lucienne chiffon dress.
