2013: beauty trends
If the runways from the Spring 2013 collections were any indication, the key word for beauty in 2013 is drama. Lots of it. Piled on eyes and lips, one at at time, or all at once – gasp! Well, fashion rules are always made to be broken, aren’t they? Get ready to make a statement, tartelettes!

The bold lip trend is nowhere near fading out. Dark, vampy reds will remain de rigueur during the colder months, lightening up to neon (pinks and oranges) when the weather warms up. Of course, a true red is always in style, no matter the season.
Stay within the lines
From a sharp cat-eye to fully kohl-rimmed lids, lined eyes are a main focus for next year. Regardless of the style, top with lots of mascara – or false lashes, if you have the patience.
Colored liners and shadows have made a fully comeback, mainly in retro blues and greens. (Pink, too, has been scattered across the runways, although we find that one to be much less wearable in real life.) A full wash of color across the lid is gorgeous, but a thin, bright line along the lashes makes a statement as well.
One of our favorite makeup looks is flawless skin combined with one or two bold accents (i.e. bright lips, rosy cheeks, smokey eyes.) The key, of course, is to use makeup to create a dewy, beautiful complexion. You don’t need much: just the perfect foundation and concealer, et voila, the perfect canvas for all that color.
