Our favorite summer jams: memorial day weekend playlist
Who else is ready for Memorial Day, the unofficial start of summer? At tarte headquarters, we’re all staring out the window, wishing for a little sunshine, sand and of course, all the celebrations that come with Memorial Day weekend.

holiday gift guide: urban muse
One of our favorite rock & roll divas, Kim Schifino (the female half of the indie dance duo Matt & Kim) is a fearless, stylish and hilarious tartelette! Check out #MKrealtalk to see what we mean. She also lives by a cruelty-free philosophy, so when it came time to plan Matt & Kim’s Fall 2012 Lightning Tour, the duo arranged to host that city’s no-kill animal shelter in the concert venue’s lobby. This gave concert-goers the opportunity to learn how they can help keep their community a no-kill area. We’re very proud to call her a tartelette — but not too proud to snoop through her holiday gift list!

You’ve probably heard of Emily Eddington, a well-known beauty blogger, highly respected YouTube beauty guru and former morning news anchor, she knows a thing or two about beauty — and how to look bright-eyed and beautiful before the morning sun has even cracked the horizon. She’s been feaured in a slew of magazines and is slowly become a nationally recognized beauty expert. Of coure we were dying to know what she had on her holiday gift list.
So we asked her. And here’s what she told us!

girl crush: connie britton
The moment Connie Britton appeared on-screen in Friday Night Lights, she walked straight into our hearts. (And if you haven’t seen this show, tartelettes, then run – don’t walk – to your nearest Netflix subscription and devour the whole delicious, feel-good series at once.) As Tami Taylor, Connie played the type of woman we always aspired to be: whip-smart, funny, graceful, and – above all – one that never took any crap from anyone. (And that hair!) So, imagine our pleasure in discovering that Connie herself is as charming and feisty as the woman she played on the silver screen.
Now, she’s back in another Southern-inflected role in Nashville, a show that focused on the drama of a different intense world far from football – country music. We’ll be watching and rooting on our favorite sassy gal! Will you?

girl crush: mindy kaling
Mindy Kaling is the type of girl we’ve been longing to see on the silver screen for ages. She’s so refreshingly real and representative of young women in a way that other young starlets aren’t. With her razor-sharp sense of humor, her sheer guts, and, yes, even her insecurities, she is the hilarious and admirable friend we wish we had. We’ve loved her since we found out she was more than just a ditz on The Office – oh yeah, she was a writer and co-executive producer for the show, too. Her charming memoir, Is Everyone Hanging out Without Me? (And Other Concerns), endeared her even more to our hearts. And, now, her new sitcom, The Mindy Project, has the potential to be a funnier, more light-hearted, primetime derivative of Girls.
We’ll definitely be watching – will you?
