Jennifer Lawrence: style recap
Jennifer Lawrence stole our hearts as the beleaguered daughter of a meth cooker in the darkly enthralling film Winter’s Bone. It was clear this girl could act. But it wasn’t until she stepped on the red carpet at last year’s Oscars that she showed us her other side: she can dress, too.
Since then, Lawrence has regularly wowed us with her daring style selections. She’s not afraid of a statement gown, glamorous makeup, or a quick hair-color change. Nor does she mind showing off her amazing bod, while never straying to the wrong side of risky.
Here, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite looks that Jennifer has rocked in the past year. With the Hunger Games coming out this Friday, we’re looking forward to seeing a lot more of this fashion-forward starlet!
In one of her first major appearances for Winter’s Bone – last years Golden Globes — Jennifer chose this electric pink cut-out number by Oscar de la Renta.
Who knew the scraggly West Virginian she played in her breakout role could transform into a Baywatch-esque bombshell? Jennifer did her first Academy Awards right, and caught the world’s attention in a minimalist, head-turning Calvin Klein number.
Jennifer loves red… and a bit of architecture. This sculpted Miu Miu silhouette is fun, and flattering.
We wonder, has Jennifer met a body-con dress she didn’t like? Doubt it. Here, she rocked a curve-hugging navy sheath and a new hair color for an appearance on David Letterman.
While most budding stars might shy away from wild fashion choices, Jennifer’s not afraid to play — like she does here with this fantastical Viktor & Rolf cut-out piece.
Once again, the girl loves to show some skin, as with this amazing Tom Ford zipper dress — but the sexiness is balanced by a long silhouette, demure heels, and youthful makeup. Perfection.

celebrity style at SXSW
Having just wrapped, it’s safe to say that South by Southwest is definitely one of the cooler festivals of the year. It was a fascinating mix of underground bands, independent film, and up-and-coming techies – basically, the movers and shakers everyone’s going to be talking about next year.
The fashion at SXSW was, of course, equally cool, and it was nice to see our favorite stars dressed down. We spotted some fashionable women running around the festival sporting effortless Austin chic.
Camilla Alves cozied up with fiancé Matthew McConaughey at the premiere of Bernie, McConaughey’s upcoming film. She hit two trends in one: sheer lace and candy-colored jeans.
Jenna Dewan-Tatum was all grins with hubby Channing at an event for 21 Jump Street. Her adorable rhinestone-studded red shift makes us smile, too.
Sheryl Crowe beat the heat in a simple strapless black dress.
Minnie Driver looked smokin’ in a hot red sheath.
Gabrielle Union was Texas-desert-ready in her khaki romper – paired with a glam statement necklace, of course.
And our favorite look of the week goes to actress Kristen Connolly, who rocked the red carpet in this fun and flattering floral-print dress.

SXSW style
Sigh. Awards season is over. No more red carpets, ball gowns, hilarious speeches, or video montages. But wait, what’s that? Oh yes, it’s festival season! With SXSW, Coachella, and Bonnaroo on the horizon, tartelettes, we’re trading in our heels for Chucks, designer gowns for hippie dresses, and big names for soon-to-be-discovered indie darlings.
First up: South by Southwest, Austin’s funky intersection of music, film, and tech. Of course, the confluence of new bands, independent film, Austin cool, and tech entrepreneurs makes for a signature SXSW look. And, as more and more fashion companies become tech-savvy, style is becoming formally entrenched in the mix as well. This year, there are even a few talks specifically on fashion on the docket.
So, what does one wear to this uniquely awesome festival? We’ve rounded up some SXSW basics that every girl should have in her suitcase.
Sunglasses.
A pair of hipster shades are a must for blocking out that searing Texas sun (and staving off headaches after long nights.) We love the the always-cool Ray-Ban aviator.
Bright skinny jeans.
You’ll want outfits that can easily transition from day to night. A pair of candy-colored jeans is an essential item for spring that can go as perfectly with a worn-in band tee as with a sparkly tank and heels. Urban Outfitters has an affordable selection in a rainbow’s-worth of colors.
Comfortable flats.
Flats are the name of the game during SXSW. Gladiator sandals and Toms are very cool options; our favorite is a classic Chuck Taylor from Converse.
Wedge heels.
When you do want to dress up a little, toss on a pair of comfy, wedge-heeled booties, like this faux-suede pair from Target.
A statement canvas tote.

This isn’t the place for a glamorous clutch. As you’re running between talks, screenings, and parties, a cool canvas tote is much better for stashing your iPad, your makeup bag, and other festival essentials. The FEED bag is a cute option that also contributes to a great cause!

coffee break: celebs and their caffeine
There’s nothing like a hot cup of Joe, whether it’s first thing in the morning or any early afternoon pick-me-up — I love my coffee. And apparently, I’m not the only one; here are some candid shots of some of our favorite celebs caffeinating themselves in public.
Ryan Reynolds gets his caffeine fix with a furry friend.
Rachel Bilson grabs a cup of Joe on the go.
Miley Cyrus looks like she’s been up all night….hope that’s a double shot in there…
It’s amazing how Mila Kunis can make grabbing an ice coffee in an awkward motion shot look lovely.
Michael Cerra wouldn’t be a true hipster without a coffe in his hand. But not Starbucks…that’s against hipster law.
Caffeine queen Mary-Kate Olsen’s hand has literally morphed into the shape of a Starbucks grande cup… true love or true addiction?
Kim Kardashion looks oh-so-chic with those oversized aviator sunnies and grande Starbucks…go Kim!
If Kate Hudson didn’t have that sip of coffe to keep her alert before stepping off this curb she might have fallen. Coffee….saving one life at a time.
Is it just us, or Emma Roberts taunting non-Californians with her a tank top and iced coffee? Yeah, we know, it’s always sunny in California.
Love birds Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux casually stroll side by side, coffee cups in hand.

listen up! your iPod needs these…
Here they are, tartelettes, my weekly new music picks! So download, plug in and start your weekend right!
Animal Kingdom, “Strange Attractor”
Three man band Animal Kingdom took a while to grow on me but after I heard this song I was hooked. This track is currently on repeat in my car — I’m obsessed with the song’s unique, mellow sound.
Walk The Moon, “Anna Sun”
Walk the Moon is an indie-rock band based in Cincinnati, OH. and while I love the whole album, this song is just plain awesome. Haven’t downloaded it yet> Then I feel bad for your iPod. If you really loved your iPod, you would add it.
The Black Keys , “Gold On The Ceiling”
If you keep up with my playlists, you already know I love the Black Keys, and you should too because, very simply, they rock. The guitar sound is incendiary (I totally stole that line from Almost Famous) but really, they just straight up rock.
The Shins , “Simple Song”
I first heard the Shins on the Garden State soundtrack — it was love at first listen. This innovative band continues to release fresh, uplifting music that just makes you feel good, kinda like puppies or red, white, and blue ice pops.
Sleigh Bells, “Rill Rill”
Based in Brooklyn, dynamic duo Derek Edward Miller and Alexis Krauss have awesome chemistry and an artsy, kick a** sound. Download this track…..like now!
