not your average bbq

Most of us associate summertime with lazy weekends, laid-back outdoor get-togethers and wearing flip-flops 24-7 – or at least during waking hours. Summer is also synonymous  with our favorite past time — the BBQ.  This year we challenge you to take it up a notch.

This 4th of July, don’t just grill, make it an extraordinary event to remember. Choose a theme and party on in serious style.

Old School Clam Bake

Not in the mood for hot dogs and beer? Add a pinch of panache to your 4th by shelving the grill and hosting a clam bake.  And don’t worry; you don’t have to dig the clams.

Summer Recipes

Just daydreaming over here about my two favorite summer aromas: beach and BBQ! What’s better than the scent of a fired-up grill emitting a delicious aroma? How about the scent of fruit on the grill?! The sweet alternative to your basic hamburger or hot dog is a fun, healthy treat that tastes even better once grilled outside.  Fruit kabobs are simple to make and I promise that it’ll leave everyone craving for more.  Whether you prefer pineapple, peaches, apricots or strawberries, each one radiates a sweet, succulent taste that’ll spark your taste buds.

What are you grilling this summer?

Dinosaur BBQ

I’m really excited for a long, relaxing, fun weekend! Tomorrow night a bunch of us are going to Dinosaur BBQ in Harlem to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. The original restaurant is in Syracuse, NY and it’s one of our favorites. Oh, it reminds me of the good ole college days! The food is delicious and there’s such a cool, country vibe! I highly recommend it to those BBQ fans out there… -Candace

4th of July Celebration

07/05/07
~Last night I went to the city version of a 4th of July BBQ. That means burgers and hot dogs on the George Forman and watching fireworks on the TV! Well, we would have walked to the river if it wasn’t raining… Before dinner, we tried to play Trivial Pursuit but it was the Genius Edition and no one could answer any of the questions so we ended up playing Charades. It was actually really fun! We limited the categories to Movies, TV Shows and Bands and I was pretty good! I wish someone could see me acting out Groundhog Day – that was a sight not to be missed – hahaha! -heather
