get the look: Emmy Rossum at the Global Green pre-Oscar party
“Emmy picked a gorgeous buttercup yellow Oliver Tolentino 50′s silhouette party dress that was made out of pineapple and hemp fibers for the Global Green Oscar Party, so I wanted to use tarte as it’s my favorite green makeup line that’s at the forefront of beauty. Inspired by the sweetness of the dress’s color and form, I chose a color palette of sherbets and bubble gum, perfectly suited for spring.” – Amy Nadine, celebrity makeup artist
Complexion:
For a light and dewy finish, Amy mixed smooth operator™ Amazonian clay Illuminating serum with smooth operator™ Amazonian clay tinted moisturizer with SPF 20.
Cheeks:
Then she applied tarte’s cheek stain in dollface for a sheer candy pink with a hint of shimmer starting on the apples of her cheeks.
Eyes:
For a wash of apricot color, she swept soft sienna from tarte’s femme naturale eyeshadow palette all over her lids followed by soft petal pink along the crease. She finished with two coats of tarte’s gifted Amazonian clay smart mascara in black.
Lips:
To complete this ultra-girly look, she applied tarte’s LipSurgence™ matte lip tint in lucky, followed by tarte’s maracuja divine shine lip gloss in dollface to create the perfect bubble gum pink.

very handy: blue summer preview
What’s not to love about butter London nail polish? A 3 Free company, their products are formulated without Formaldehyde, Toluene and DBP, plus they feature some serious rock star colors. The shade above is called Slapper — part of their summer 2012 collection – an incredibly versatile and fun polish that can liven up any outfit. To cheer up a gloomy and rainy Wednesday, our customer service rep Jen decided to slap on a coat (pun intended), and things are already looking brighter.

Fresh Look for Winter 2011
Happy New Year tartelettes! I hope it was happy, healthy and chock full of resolutions (please share below & give others inspiration). For 2011 my resolutions seem a bit unoriginal, but nonetheless, I feel they’re extremely important. Like 99% of the population fitness is at the top of my list. However, I’m changing up my routine and spending lots of free time snowboarding! Along with firming up the bod, I’m trying to eat healthy and aiming to be a better version of myself. As I begin the process of reinvigorating from the inside out, I’m also going with a fresh new look to match my rejuvenated attitude (relaxed, centered & glowing). I’ve pulled together my fresh winter 2011 look for you above—what do you think?
I’m counting on my exercise and healthy eating (lot’s of greens & colorful foods) to banish that dull winter skin. If I need any additional glow I can count on tarte’s smooth operator™ Amazonian Clay illuminating serum
Additionally, I’ll be warding off winter lips and achieving the perfect nude/pink pout with my fRxtion lip exfoliator and balm and LipSurgence™ natural matte lip tint in exposed. With our complexion in check let’s show it off with the perfect knot. High or low, the ballerina bun is back and so effortless; plus, it will take me from work-to-gym. Last but not least, I want warm comfy clothes that are both relaxed and pulled together. What’s better and more season appropriate than the perfect fair isle sweater? I love both the playfulness and comfort in the choices above, either option can be paired with skinnies and chic booties. So, as I’ve closed the door on 2010 and said hello to 2011, I’m in search of the best year, yet! Fingers crossed I’ve got myself started in the right direction. Tell us about your new look for 2011! Comment below.

Wine Stain
It’s that time of year: holiday work parties, friendly gatherings and New Year’s toasts! We’re now penciling them into our December calendars and sorting through our wardrobes. This year there are even more sequins, lux velvets and faux furs to wear. In addition to adding some sparkle to your outfit, I always recommend statement makeup! With so many festive soirees to attend, I thought this would be the perfect time to share one of my favorite holiday looks. I’m loving this dark romantic look I came across in the December pages of Flare Magazine. Bold lip choices were huge for all of 2010, and this deep wine lip is a gorgeous way to finish off the year. I love that it’s paired with a soft and subtle smokey eye. This dark and romantic look is quite simple to recreate and super wearable from office to office party. Here’s a quick how-to:
- Hide those dark circles and even skin tone with your favorite complexion products (try: dark circle defense, smooth op tinted-moisturizer)
- Choose a neutral shadow and wash all over the eyelid (try: lock&roll 12-hr eye shadow in sandstone)
- Blend matte brown shadow into the crease of the eye and run along the bottom lash line (try: the royal collection holiday palette)
- Brighten inner eye corners and inner rims with a highlighter & nude liner (try: rest assured brightening wand)
- Curl and coat lashes (try: picture perfect holiday curler & lights, camera, lashes! 4-in-1 natural mascara)
- Finish with a deep berry lip tint (try: LipSurgence™ natural lip tint in moody; if lips are chapped from the winter air, prep with fRxtion lip exfoliator and balm)

5 Steps to Heidi
Let’s just tell it like it is, Heidi Klum is one hot mama. At last night’s 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy’s, this mom of four proved to us that she’s still got it (and I don’t think it’s going away anytime soon). Contrary to other goers’ gowns, her Marchesa mini and Lorraine Schwartz necklace were ultra glam and equally eye popping. Most of all, I loved how her upswept hair was the perfect complement to her radiant complexion and beautiful eye makeup. It’s the perfect evening look that I plan to recreate for a wedding I have in November. So, I figured why not share how easy it is to achieve.
First things first, her luminous skin creates the perfect back drop to her kohl-rimmed eyes. Tarte’s limited-edition radiant & rested collection includes all of the necessary fresh-faced goodies for just this: ReCreate™ primer, park ave princess mineral bronzer, limited-edition cheek stain in glisten, emphasEYES™ inner rim brightener and smooth operator™ illuminating serum. When combined, these products create a radiant look. Her natural, glowing complexion is topped off with a simple lip choice. I suggest you pucker-up with our 24.7 natural lip sheer in Sunday for Heidi’s soft pout.
Now, let’s move on to those gorgeous eyes—the focus of this look. The colors are basic, but the application is precise for an eye-opening effect. The last thing you want to create are heavily lined beady eyes. Start by applying a shimmering bone shadow (lock & roll 12-hour eyeshadow in sandstone). Make sure to get the inner corners of the eyes for an instantly brightening effect. Using our brand new emphasEYES™ aqua-gel eyeliner in black, line the upper lashline and ONLY the outer half of the lower lashline. Line your inner rims with the inner rim brightener from the radiant and rested kit. This will help open your eyes by making the whites appear brighter. Finish off with 2 coats of multiplEYE™ natural lash enhancing mascara for Heidi’s camera-worthy lashes. That’s it! This really is super easy and like I mentioned before, wear this look with your hair off your face. After all, you want to show how pretty you are!
