Jennifer Lawrence: style recap
Jennifer Lawrence stole our hearts as the beleaguered daughter of a meth cooker in the darkly enthralling film Winter’s Bone. It was clear this girl could act. But it wasn’t until she stepped on the red carpet at last year’s Oscars that she showed us her other side: she can dress, too.
Since then, Lawrence has regularly wowed us with her daring style selections. She’s not afraid of a statement gown, glamorous makeup, or a quick hair-color change. Nor does she mind showing off her amazing bod, while never straying to the wrong side of risky.
Here, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite looks that Jennifer has rocked in the past year. With the Hunger Games coming out this Friday, we’re looking forward to seeing a lot more of this fashion-forward starlet!
In one of her first major appearances for Winter’s Bone – last years Golden Globes — Jennifer chose this electric pink cut-out number by Oscar de la Renta.
Who knew the scraggly West Virginian she played in her breakout role could transform into a Baywatch-esque bombshell? Jennifer did her first Academy Awards right, and caught the world’s attention in a minimalist, head-turning Calvin Klein number.
Jennifer loves red… and a bit of architecture. This sculpted Miu Miu silhouette is fun, and flattering.
We wonder, has Jennifer met a body-con dress she didn’t like? Doubt it. Here, she rocked a curve-hugging navy sheath and a new hair color for an appearance on David Letterman.
While most budding stars might shy away from wild fashion choices, Jennifer’s not afraid to play — like she does here with this fantastical Viktor & Rolf cut-out piece.
Once again, the girl loves to show some skin, as with this amazing Tom Ford zipper dress — but the sexiness is balanced by a long silhouette, demure heels, and youthful makeup. Perfection.

Oscar Beauty
Hi all!
I’m Kate—the newest member of the tarte team. I’m so excited to have the opportunity to blog about beauty, fashion and all things glamorous. For my official post, I’ve decided to share my thoughts on some of my favorite Oscar beauty trends. I know I’m a little late to the convo, but I’ve finally had the chance to digest all of the gorgeous gals!
I thought that stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Hillary Swank both dazzled with a natural , look. By using a nude lip color and sporting a rosy cheek, they flawlessly pulled it off with ease. Mila Kunis, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry and Michelle Williams all looked stunning rocking a sultry, smokey eye. They balanced it perfectly by complimenting the strong eye with softer shades on their cheeks and lips. And one of my all-time favorite trends of the evening was the classic look. I think Anne Hathaway and Sandra Bullock pulled this off well with a bold red lip color.
What were some of your favorite beauty trends?
