most wearable street style looks from NYFW
In the age of fashion blogging and guerilla photogs, street style stars have almost eclipsed runway shows as the focus of New York Fashion Week. And while most of us may not have the cash to snag next season’s hottest designer pieces, we can create our favorite trendsetters’ looks right now, with items we probably already own. Here are four of our favorite street style looks from NYFW with tips on how to pull them together at home. More >

get the look: Hailee Steinfeld at the 2012 Met Gala
“I knew I wanted to create a playful and colorful look for Hailee, to compliment her exquisite Prada dress.” – Stephen Sollitto, celebrity makeup artist
To begin Stephen used tarte’s Amazonian clay waterproof concealer in medium to even out Hailee’s complexion. He then used tarte’s airbrush finish bamboo foundation brush to buff in Hailee’s Amazonian clay 12-hour full coverage foundation with Broad Spectrum SPF 15 in medium to create a flawless complexion.
Cheeks:
-Stephen used tarte’s Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in exposed, a warm nude, on the apples of her cheeks and along her cheekbones.
Eyes :
-He started by applying tarte’s Amazonian clay waterproof cream eyeshadow in plum smoke on her lids.
-To add further definition, he used tarte’s smolderEYES™ Amazonian clay waterproof liner in bronze as a shadow along Hailee’s lash line to make her eyes pop.
-He finished by lining her eyes with tarte’s Amazonian clay waterproof eyeliner in black.
-For extra volume Stephen applied two coats of tarte’s lights, camera lashes!™ 4-in-1 clinically-proven mascara.
Lips:
-To complete Hailee’s playful look, Stephen filled her lips with tarte LipSurgence™ matte lip tint in lucky, then added major shine with tarte’s maracuja divine shine lip gloss in glisten.

fall trends from New York Fashion Week
Well, tartelettes, that’s a wrap: New York Fashion Week is officially over. The last makeup cases and sewing kits were packed up at Lincoln Center last night… but, for us, the fun is only getting started.
Now we get to play dress-up! We’ve checked out our favorite shows and pulled a few trends that will be inspiring our fall wardrobes.
who wears the pants?
After a few seasons of watching ethereal dress after ethereal dress traipse down the runway, it was a pleasure to see a more moody and structured silhouette return for fall 2012. Gorgeous, tailored trousers were everywhere, such as this fifties-inspired pair from J.Crew.
Sparkles littered the runways this year, as designers sprinkled them on everything from coats to gowns. This fully-glittered dress from Theysken’s Theory stopped us in our tracks.suit up
Menswear continues to be a strong fall trend. Strong-shouldered, suiting-inspired coats and full-on pantsuits appeared in shows everywhere; the Ralph Lauren collection was dominated by them.
gettin’ chunky
When it’s cold outside, there’s nothing we love more then a ridiculously oversized sweater. If you’re like us, you’re in luck: fall 2012 brings tons of chunky and loose-knit jumpers, like this one from Michael Kors.
Make an outerwear statement
Many a designer sent statement coats down the runway this fashion week – a practical counter-balance for all those sheer tops! We adored this kaleidoscopic version by Rodarte.
the dark side
The overall sentiment in the design world seems to have shifted from soft and girly to dark and moody. From the abundance of dark colors – wine and black being the most common – to the more structured silhouettes, the clothes this fashion week seemed more brooding and complex and, therefore, more interesting, like this look from Yigal Azrouel.

NYC Concert
I was just reading the line up for the Coachella music festival in Indio, California this year, and the article mentioned that the same promoters are launching a similar music event on the east coast, at Liberty State park in New Jersey. The festival won’t be quite the same as Coachella where most concert goers camp out in the desert, instead trains and ferries will shuttle people in for the 3 day event along the waterside with the Statue of Liberty and lower Manhattan as a beautiful back drop. Major headliners like Radiohead are expected to be announced. I can’t wait, sounds like a pretty cool event!
