It’s April and that means it’s time for us to introduce this month’s new artist. Please meet celebrity makeup artist Mathias Alan! He has painted gorgeous faces and created eye-catching hair styles for Red Carpet beauties, television hosts, and commercial talent. I had the pleasure of catching up with Mathias and this Q+ A is just a quick snapshot into Mathias’ world. You can learn more about him on his site www.mathias4makeup.com, but here’s just one tidbit from the master: he considers tarte’s dark circle defense the perfect cure for those puffy bags underneath your eyes. Hope you enjoy reading about Mathias, one of my favorite makeup artists.
First date, your best friend’s wedding, a long overdue night out on the town with the girls….do you ever find yourself desperate for an incredible makeup artist to make you look and feel as glamorous as those strutting the Red Carpet? If only there was a place where you could pop in and have your makeup done by the best artists with the best products, and not feel obligated to purchase. Well ladies, the dream is over. It does exist. Enter Makeup & Go! It’s the first-of-its-kind, full-service makeup studio providing time-pressed beauty lovers a one-stop-shop to gorgeous! With their first location in Cali, I was lucky enough to meet some of their incredible artists and outfit their kits with the latest and greatest from tarte. While working with them I soon realized the scope of their talent; their chairs are filled with the everyday woman one minute and Hollywood’s glam goddesses the next. For awards season, Makeup & Go! has created additional pop-up shops to ensure those smiling for the camera are looking their best. With all that being said, I figured the perfect artist to chat with for February is one of Makeup & Go!’s very own, Anna Marco. Read our Q+A to learn more about her endless talent, and if you happen to be in the Brentwood area head to Makeup & Go! to sit in her chair. No appointment necessary. Easy access to the best talent? Well, that’s just AMAZING.
It’s time to kick-off our 2011 Meet the Pro. Introducing…Amy Tagliamonti! From a glam look for a premiere to a flawless complexion, Amy can create any look with just a quick swirl of her makeup brush. tarte first started working with Amy a few years ago when she was Makeup Artist Department Head on a little show you might have heard of… Gossip Girl!! Today as she conquers new projects, we’re happy to follow her amazing work and continue to count her as a loyal tarte fan (she has even won an Emmy Award for her fabulous skills!). I had the pleasure of recently catching up with Amy and hearing about what inspires her work. She’s often inspired by nature, an exciting new makeup color, a costume or fashionable outfit, someone’s personality, the time of day, an old movie…and the list goes on! To Amy inspiration is limitless and ever-evolving. That being said I feel inspired just chatting with her! So go ahead and read more of what she has to say when it comes to perfecting some of Hollywood’s famous faces.
He’s been featured and quoted in the glossy pages of our favorite magazines. His work is on the beautiful faces of TV shows we can’t get enough of (ahem Project Runway)! The famous adore him, AND yet, he still makes time to help the everyday woman (like us) look and feel beautiful! tartelettes meet: Celebrity makeup artist Nathan Johnson! He’s the perfect mix of fabulous and down to earth—that’s why I HAD to feature him as our December “Meet The Pro”. This Q+A is just a quick snapshot into Nathan’s world. You can learn more on his sites Nathansbeauty.com and RunningwithHeels.com, but here are some tidbits: he considers tarte’s lights, camera, lashes! the ultimate mascara! His personal beauty secret weapon is his own two hands! And he has a passion for writing (hopefully, we will see a book from him soon!). Enjoy
It’s November and that means time to meet a new artist whose work makes us go gaga! Introducing… Amy Nadine! Not only have I always been a fan of her work (I’ve replicated Lauren Conrad’s cat eye & pink lip combo on numerous occasions), but after chatting with her I realized this creative genius also has a heart of gold. If she isn’t glamming-up some of Hollywood’s prettiest faces, then she’s bringing attention to rescue dogs that desperately need a loving home (that’s her pup Sprewell featured above!). Amy & I began working together when she used tarte’s LipSurgence™ in lust on Krysten Ritter for the premiere of Get Him to The Greek. Currently, as the Head of the Makeup Department, Amy has the cast of BFF & Baby addicted to tarte’s LipSurgence™, too. Check out Amy’s Q+A above and browse her website here: http://www.amynadine.com/. She is sure to impress.
Hey tarte fans! I’m excited to share with you a new feature on tarte talk: Meet The Pro! It’s a monthly Q+A that will spotlight the beauty industry’s most talented makeup artists. I’ve been lucky enough to chat with these incredible artists and wanted to share some of their insights with you! Whether it’s on the Red Carpet or on an editorial photo shoot, these artists are the fabulous folks creating some of your favorite looks. Meet the pro will run on the right side bar under “tarte TV” for their featured month. In case you happen to miss it, we’re also creating an archive feature so their Q&A will live on the site forever!
This month I chatted with Celebrity Makeup Artist, Maria Maio. Not only is she a beauty genius, but she is also an avid tarte fan. Our last project together was a Fashion’s Night Out Collaboration with 7 For All Mankind. She created fun and creative looks for both the NY and Cali gal. I’ve shared her face charts below, but please check out her Q+A too!
