girl crush: connie britton
The moment Connie Britton appeared on-screen in Friday Night Lights, she walked straight into our hearts. (And if you haven’t seen this show, tartelettes, then run – don’t walk – to your nearest Netflix subscription and devour the whole delicious, feel-good series at once.) As Tami Taylor, Connie played the type of woman we always aspired to be: whip-smart, funny, graceful, and – above all – one that never took any crap from anyone. (And that hair!) So, imagine our pleasure in discovering that Connie herself is as charming and feisty as the woman she played on the silver screen.
Now, she’s back in another Southern-inflected role in Nashville, a show that focused on the drama of a different intense world far from football – country music. We’ll be watching and rooting on our favorite sassy gal! Will you?

girl crush: isla fisher
Born to Scottish parents in Oman, Fisher was raised in Australia where she cut her teeth on a slew of soap operas before catching Hollywood’s attention. A genuine funny girl, the red headed knock-out not only has a number of box office blockbuster movies under her belt, but she’s also the wife of notorious comedian Sacha Baron Cohen — boy, would we’d love hear that dinner table banter.
Not only do we love her style, but we also appreciate her moxy – Fisher has openly criticized Hollywood for the lack of opportunities for female comedians. While that may be true, her new comedy Bachelorette showcases a host of funny women, and Fisher gives her a hubby a run for his money. And come on, who doesn’t love a girl who can truly rock a subtle, smokey eye?

style envy: Rachel McAdams
With The Vow coming out this Friday, we’re excited for the chance to revisit a super-talented (and stylish) actress: Rachel McAdams. We’ve been fans of McAdams since she sauntered down the halls of North Shore High School as leader of the Plastics, then turned around and won our hearts as one-half of a star-crossed couple in the Notebook. Since then, she’s proven time and again that she can play the bad girl, the young ingénue, a fearless heroine, and everything in between.
Regardless of the character she’s playing, McAdams’ red-carpet style is always enviable. This girl is a fan of sleek glamour, but she’s also not afraid to take a little risk, whether it’s with her hair color (remember those pink streaks?) or a daring silhouette. We’ve chosen some of our favorite McAdams’ looks, from both on the screen and off.
For her break-out role as the despicable Regina George, McAdams rocked an array of miniskirts and a spectrum of pink.
As heiress Allie in the classic tear-jerker The Notebook, she got to sport the best of forties’ and fifties’ fashion: gorgeous suits and dresses, and some fabulous hats.
Although Midnight in Paris’s Inez plays the cynical foil to the charmingly naïve Gil, we have to admit that her clothes are great. As we’ve gushed about before, we loved the effortless, Euro-chic wardrobe.

And now, the red-carpet highlights, from pink hair at a Wedding Crashers premiere (has anyone else made neon highlights look so adorable?) to a sequined bustier and linen pants on the red carpet this year.

style envy: Elizabeth Banks
With the return of 30 Rock tonight, we’re most excited to see our favorite funny girl again. Not Tina Fey or Jane Krakowski – though we love them too – but the only woman who can truly steal a scene from Alec Baldwin: Elizabeth Banks. We’ve been fans of Elizabeth since her campy debut in Wet Hot American Summer, when she showed us that she wasn’t afraid to be silly (or sloppy – remember that make out scene with Paul Rudd?) With roles in everything from the 40 Year Old Virgin to Spider Man, she’s proved herself a versatile and ever-hilarious actress – and she’s equally dynamic on the red carpet.
This girl isn’t afraid of making a statement with stunning colors or unique silhouettes. Whether in a drop-dead-gorgeous chiffon Versace or a cut-out, modern take on the flapper dress, Elizabeth always stands out in the usual sea of safe, neutral-toned shifts (usually doing so with a bright smile and a dirty joke.)
By pairing her fashion-forward choices with simple, pretty hair and makeup, she also avoids looking too over-the-top. And with the fabulous Effie Trinket as Elizabeth’s latest character inspiration, we can’t wait to see what she’ll rock on the Hunger Games tour.
