Fashion’s Night Out with tarte!

Lines, crowds & a shopping frenzy! That’s just a snapshot of what went on during Fashion’s Night Out, but I must say, we had a blast participating!! Hopefully, you made it out for NYC’s shopping extravaganza and maybe even ran into some of your favorite tarte girls (or saw a celebrity or two)! We were at Henri Bendel & Tracey Reese offering mini-makeovers. At Bendel’s our fitness guru, Mister Abs, raffled off a private session on behalf of tarte. We hope you had as much fun as we did!

NYFW Spring 2010—tarte for Hayden-Harnett!

New York Fashion Week is in full swing and the tartelettes are happy to grant you a ‘backstage pass’ to Hayden-Harnett’s “Lava Fields of Love” presentation! Inspired by a nomadic journey through lava fields and desert landscapes; the creative talents behind the Brooklyn label created a warm, natural feeling collection with hints of pop color. tarte’s artistry team used these concepts to create a flawless makeup look. Think: warm complexion with a strong, geometric brow and barely there lips. You can easily re-create the look for this fall, but be sure to avoid looking baked! tarte & NY Fashion Week (Abaeté)

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York Fall 2009 has officially kicked off! Press, celebs, and the who’s who in fashion are dressing their best and flocking to the tents. Even more exciting, the tarte team assisted celebrity makeup artist Tina Turnbow at the Abaeté show today! In typical Fashion Week style backstage was a little chaotic, but the final look was amazing—think old world masculinity meets modern day femme. Abaeté designer Laura Poretzky was inspired by Les Incroyables, a group of gentlemen who formed in the 18th Century after the French Revolution. Using this inspiration, our team created perfectly polished, dewy complexions with a hint of color. According to Poretzky, this season the Abaeté woman is rebellious while staying true to herself. We like the sound of that!

Tapas time!

It’s Friday! And tonight I’m planning on happy hour with the girls in NYC. It’s always hard for us to make a date, but we’re all able to hang out this evening. We enjoy trying some place new—I try to keep a running list of restaurants and bars I read about in New York Magazine. On our agenda tonight is Sala 19 in the Flatiron district. This Spanish hotspot is cozy and chic with old-world flair. Not to mention the tapas are supposedly amazing! If that’s not tempting enough, then what about their deal: 2 for 1 pitcher of Sangria? Hello, count me in. So, what are you doing tonight?

Spring Shopping!

Yesterday morning was no nice and sunny here in NYC that it made me excited for spring! That got me thinking about my spring wardrobe. I love all the bold colors for spring, especially the bright yellows and electric blues. I’ve been tagging so many pages in my huge spring magazines of looks that I like. Last night, I was perusing through my Bloomingdale’s catalog and there was a Tory Burch dress I loved, which then led me to browse Bloomingdale’s website. I found this fun Marc by Marc Jacobs dress. I’m obsessed and need it! -Candace

Wednesday with Maurey!

Happy New Year everyone! I’m very excited because today I’m getting a visit from our fabulous board member (and my friend) Maurey, who I haven’t seen in almost 3 years. She’s going to stop by tarte HQ for a visit with everyone and then we get to have a nice catch-up dinner. Of course, it’ll be 16 degrees tonight, but I’m excited nonetheless. We’re both eagerly awaiting the day tarte expands to London, so I can visit her for a change. (Plus, I never pass up the opportunity to be in London!) -Alexis

Blizzard 07

So for the past 2 days on the news here in NYC it’s been nothing but coverage on the blizzard that’s about to hit us. I was skeptical that it would even happen but as Maria and I made our coffee run this morning we were pelted with chunks of hail. Now it’s snowing like crazy! If I was still in school I’d be hoping for a snow day and then spend the day sledding and drinking hot cocoa! Maybe the tarte girls will have an impromptu sledding break today?! -Erica

spinach dip

I needed to satisfy a serious craving for spinach dip so last night the tarte girls and I went out to dinner at one of our favorite places – Houston’s! Needless to say, the dip was amazing and the wine and ribs weren’t too shabby either! -Heather

a bronx tale

“A Bronx Tale” is one of my husband’s favorite movies of all time, so I was so excited when I found out Chazz Palminteri is doing a limited run of the original one-man show on Broadway right now. Just in time for Phil’s birthday, too—we went on Friday night and it was amazing. He actually acts out 18 characters in the show—for 90 minutes, with no intermission—and the whole thing is just seamless. It was a good raucous New York audience too, which actually works in the case of this show. I’m so glad we were able to see it—highly recommended for anyone who happens to be in the area!
