Oscar Beauty
Hi all!
I’m Kate—the newest member of the tarte team. I’m so excited to have the opportunity to blog about beauty, fashion and all things glamorous. For my official post, I’ve decided to share my thoughts on some of my favorite Oscar beauty trends. I know I’m a little late to the convo, but I’ve finally had the chance to digest all of the gorgeous gals!
I thought that stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Hillary Swank both dazzled with a natural , look. By using a nude lip color and sporting a rosy cheek, they flawlessly pulled it off with ease. Mila Kunis, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry and Michelle Williams all looked stunning rocking a sultry, smokey eye. They balanced it perfectly by complimenting the strong eye with softer shades on their cheeks and lips. And one of my all-time favorite trends of the evening was the classic look. I think Anne Hathaway and Sandra Bullock pulled this off well with a bold red lip color.
What were some of your favorite beauty trends?

Meet The Pro: Anna Marco
First date, your best friend’s wedding, a long overdue night out on the town with the girls….do you ever find yourself desperate for an incredible makeup artist to make you look and feel as glamorous as those strutting the Red Carpet? If only there was a place where you could pop in and have your makeup done by the best artists with the best products, and not feel obligated to purchase. Well ladies, the dream is over. It does exist. Enter Makeup & Go! It’s the first-of-its-kind, full-service makeup studio providing time-pressed beauty lovers a one-stop-shop to gorgeous! With their first location in Cali, I was lucky enough to meet some of their incredible artists and outfit their kits with the latest and greatest from tarte. While working with them I soon realized the scope of their talent; their chairs are filled with the everyday woman one minute and Hollywood’s glam goddesses the next. For awards season, Makeup & Go! has created additional pop-up shops to ensure those smiling for the camera are looking their best. With all that being said, I figured the perfect artist to chat with for February is one of Makeup & Go!’s very own, Anna Marco. Read our Q+A to learn more about her endless talent, and if you happen to be in the Brentwood area head to Makeup & Go! to sit in her chair. No appointment necessary. Easy access to the best talent? Well, that’s just AMAZING.

5 Steps to Heidi
Let’s just tell it like it is, Heidi Klum is one hot mama. At last night’s 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy’s, this mom of four proved to us that she’s still got it (and I don’t think it’s going away anytime soon). Contrary to other goers’ gowns, her Marchesa mini and Lorraine Schwartz necklace were ultra glam and equally eye popping. Most of all, I loved how her upswept hair was the perfect complement to her radiant complexion and beautiful eye makeup. It’s the perfect evening look that I plan to recreate for a wedding I have in November. So, I figured why not share how easy it is to achieve.
First things first, her luminous skin creates the perfect back drop to her kohl-rimmed eyes. Tarte’s limited-edition radiant & rested collection includes all of the necessary fresh-faced goodies for just this: ReCreate™ primer, park ave princess mineral bronzer, limited-edition cheek stain in glisten, emphasEYES™ inner rim brightener and smooth operator™ illuminating serum. When combined, these products create a radiant look. Her natural, glowing complexion is topped off with a simple lip choice. I suggest you pucker-up with our 24.7 natural lip sheer in Sunday for Heidi’s soft pout.
Now, let’s move on to those gorgeous eyes—the focus of this look. The colors are basic, but the application is precise for an eye-opening effect. The last thing you want to create are heavily lined beady eyes. Start by applying a shimmering bone shadow (lock & roll 12-hour eyeshadow in sandstone). Make sure to get the inner corners of the eyes for an instantly brightening effect. Using our brand new emphasEYES™ aqua-gel eyeliner in black, line the upper lashline and ONLY the outer half of the lower lashline. Line your inner rims with the inner rim brightener from the radiant and rested kit. This will help open your eyes by making the whites appear brighter. Finish off with 2 coats of multiplEYE™ natural lash enhancing mascara for Heidi’s camera-worthy lashes. That’s it! This really is super easy and like I mentioned before, wear this look with your hair off your face. After all, you want to show how pretty you are!
