The new show Girls has caught the fascination of men and women of all ages since it premiered this spring. This blogger, personally, is a fan – I love the realness of the girls’ relationships, both with their male counterparts and each other.
One of the best parts of watching the show has been discovering up-and-comer Allison Williams. Yes, she’s the daughter of newsman Brian Williams, but she’s turning out to be a star in her own right. She’s a multi-talented actress (did you see her hilarious turn as Kate Middleton on Funny or Die?) – and she’s got killer style.
Whether in a stunning hot pink gown or an amazing pair of sparkly trousers, Williams has consistently wow’ed us so far. (That amazing head of hair doesn’t hurt.) We’re looking forward to seeing what she does next!

I love a good bargain, and seeing the letters S. A. L. E. hanging in store windows makes my blood rush. Still, I’ve never been the type to get out of bed before dawn and battle the notoriously aggressive Black Friday crowds. Instead I spend Thanksgiving weekend plotting a Cyber Monday offense attack. As more online boutiques begin to throw their “free shipping” hats in the ring, the deals continue to get better. Below are six of the best internet bargains a girl can find.
This online emporium has so many incredible deals going on right now I can’t even list them all. Instead, I suggest you double-check your gift list and head straight to their site.
The cyber destination “where fashion discovers jewelry” is offering 20% off anything on the site between 11am and 3pm EST. Oh yeah, and they’re throwing in free shipping.
The mega discount site will be launching brand new sales every three hours in all of their stores between noon and 9pm EST—plus their offering doorbusters for at least 70% off each round as well. If you’re not a member, perhaps you should look in to it.
With graphic Ts starting at $4 and outerwear at $15, you can afford to stock up for every kind of winter weather scenario possible.
Saving the best for last: We’re offering up to $30 off, plus a full-size free gift, plus free shipping on orders $40 or more!
So what are you waiting for tartelettes? Get shopping!
Yesterday, I had the honor of presenting to a really fantastic group of young ladies at FashionCampNYC. To give you some more insight on the program, it’s a five-day camp experience, where experts, designers, product developers, stylists, bloggers, editors, publicists (me!), retailers and other fashion & beauty professionals educate budding teens between the ages 12 to 18. The program explores the “business” of fashion and beauty, teaching teens how to turn their passion into a lucrative profession.
During my session, I explained the role of PR in the beauty industry. As part of my presentation, I offered background on tarte and then explained my PR position with the help of some props! I distributed magazines (i.e. Seventeen) where tarte was featured and discussed some of our coveted beauty awards. I also explained the importance of a press kit, which includes a bio about the company, celebrity fans and other informative information. These young ladies are really a passionate group—I hope I taught them a thing or two (i.e. listen up in your English and writing classes)! I’m really so excited about these future industry professionals. We’re in good hands!
I can’t wait to do it all over again on 8/2—it felt good to pay it forward. How are you giving back to the community?
On Tuesday night tarte had the honor of being a part of Fashion Delivers’ Pay It Fashion Forward event. If you haven’t heard of Fashion Delivers, it is a non-profit charitable foundation that was created to help Hurricane Katrina victims. Fashion Deliver’s mission is to mobilize the fashion community to reach out and affect the world through their donations. These donations provide relief and dignity to women, men, families and survivors of natural disasters. Since Katrina the organization has continued its admirable philanthropy and the fashion community has donated over $65 million dollars to natural disaster victims. Once a year Fashion Delivers host a Pay It Fashion Forward event to raise money for the freight costs for the delivery of goods.
This year Fashion Delivers concentrated its efforts on Haiti relief. Hosted by HBO stars Brian Greenberg and Emmanuelle Chriqui, Pay It Fashion Forward honored industry leaders who have had positive influences on their communities and environment at the Lucky Strike lanes in NYC. One of the event sponsors,
Forever21, was kind enough to bring tarte’s artistry team on board to create the beauty looks for the fashion show, which took place during the event. The tarte team had a blast and loved every second of being part of such a great cause. All of the event proceeds will subsidize the shipping costs of the $25 million dollars worth of product collected for Haiti!
We hope you enjoy our pictures & if you are in the NYC area next year you can purchase tickets for the event at Fashion Deliver’s website (http://www.fashiondelivers.org/). Please check out our video on tarte TV for clips from the fun-filled evening!
From novelist (and certified Tarte-aholic) Kristin Harmel, the author of six books, including Italian for Beginners and After
I am endlessly drawn to the Tarte display at Sephora. I giggle at the lip gloss names. I try on the different cheek stains. And on one recent trip, I even found myself stopping a startled stranger and gushing about how great Tarte is. That’s the day I knew for sure that I had a problem.
I was trying to kick the habit, really I was. And then Candace and Kristin from Tarte asked if I wanted to blog for Tarte this month. Now, here I am, more addicted than ever! I fear the cycle will never end!
I first met the Tarte gals when I wrote a magazine article about Tarte founder Maureen Kelly in 2006. It was the kindness of everyone associated with Tarte that drew me in initially, but I truly became a devotee once I started using the products. Now, here I am, happily addicted!
I’m looking forward to chatting with you this month! I’ll tell you all about my novels – and how I use Tarte to get ready for my TV appearances – next week. But in the meantime, I’ll leave you with a list of the Tarte products currently in my makeup bag!
- Face: Clean Slate Natural Face Primer
- Cheeks: Natural Cheekstain: Tipsy and Tickled
- Eyes: Eyeshadow in Bathtub Gin; Lock & Roll in Gunmetal; Lights, Camera, Lashes! mascara
- Lips: Lip stain in Moody, topped with lip gloss in Roger & Mimi
