Sustainable Amazon Partnership (SAP)
“every year a chunk of land equivalent to the average-size U.S. state disappears, affecting an estimated 1 million of the world’s 5 million species of plants and animals” *
Sambazon, the global leader in acai, started the Sustainable Amazon Partnership (SAP) as part of their market-driven conservation business model in the Amazon Rainforest. The SAP promotes forest stewardship, creates new jobs, improves living conditions and offers educational opportunities for thousands of small family farmers through the sustainable management of the Açaí palm tree. To date, the SAP has created a positive economic exchange for over 5,000 local family farmers, secured sustainable development through environmental stewardship on over 1.7 million acres of agro-forestry farms, and provided supplemental income to women in local cooperatives who make açaí jewelry.
With the purchase of every tarte product that has our new t5 super fruit complex™, customers will be helping to preserve the Amazon Rainforest through forest conservation, improved living conditions and educational opportunities for communities in Brazil. We’re supporting the Sustainable Amazon Partnership (SAP), a public and private collaboration to promote lasting sustainable management of the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest. We’re using sustainable organic acai in t5™ and will be making contributions to SAP throughout the year.
SAP’s Vision
Foster and maintain a public and private collaboration in order to maximize the positive environmental, economic and social results from açaí trade, while minimizing the negative impacts; and be an aspirational model for others.
SAP’s Mission
To support the well being of the communities and sustainability of the rainforest in the Amazon estuary regions where açaí trade thrives (Macapá, Pará and Amapá).
