This product is mis-positioned. It doesn't stay on for 4 days unless you're bed-ridden, but you never have to "remove" it, you can just add a coat when necessary. This mascara is great for women like me. I exercise a lot and don't have time to do make up twice a day. I also live in a very hot climate, so most makeup doesn't stay in place very long. My natural eyelashes are sparse and blond. I put a coat on every other day after my shower and I look like I'm wearing mascara all the time. I've tried extensions and "permanent mascara" and this product is by far the best solution - less expensive and more convenient. Please, Tarte, don't stop making it! One request: Some of my fairer friends and I would like a brown/black color as well. Would you buy this product again? Yes

I hate waterproof mascara because I have never found one I liked, and for some reason they seem to smear on me, when regular mascara doesn't. When I saw this in stores I was really excited to try it out but.. It made my lashes HARD, and it was really hard to remove, although it did start to smear by day 2. simply amazing! i have the type of eyelashes that do not curl for anything...whatever type of mascara i have used in the past never curled my eyelashes even with the eyelash curler...however with this product my eyelashes are super curled and stay that way all day! even when i fall asleep, the next day my eyelashes sometimes look even look nicer...so full, flared and curled!...i have even tried other mascaras after i purchased this to just see if i would like anything else, but i always go back this one im in love! This product really stays on for a couple of days! I usually reapply on the third of fourth day. My husband even noticed a difference!
In the mornings, I sometimes have a little bit of smudging under my eyes but a q-tip with a little make up remover gets rid of any residue very easily.
This is great to make your eyes pop without the clumpy spider eye effect. I swear this stuff is conditioning my lashes too! A+++ Would you buy this product again? Yes

This is a great product on its own. However, I suggest using the tarte Step 2 MultiplEYE Primer and this lash stain for an awesome effect. For some glamorous night looks I usually prefer my lashes to be incredibly full at the base and long (which is what get with Lights, Camera, Lashes with or without Step 2 Primer). However, with the primer/stain combo each eyelash is defined giving a very natural yet intensified length, curl and tint. This is what I do when I do not want wear eyeshadow, but I want my eyes to pop. Would you buy this product again? Yes

THIS IS THE BEST MASCARA I HAVE EVER USED!! I have read all reviews and agree that it does stay on for 3-4 days; that it's more like a mascara than a stain; no one mentioned that it KEEPS THE CURL! For my life, it really works...no more "raccoon eyes", I will touch it up in the morning on day 3, but my eyelashes have that "just-applied mascara" look for 3 days! It's just right also in that it's not too much (spidery) and not too little (wimpy). I'm glad I tried it without knowing it's called a stain because I probably wouldn't have if I knew the name before...I think stain just colors without adding length or volume. This is mascara, with length, volume, and ultimate staying power. Yes, it's extra work to remove, and when applying mistakes need immediate attention. But WOW, worth the effort. My husband even asked if I had false eyelashes on!!! Would you buy this product again? Yes

This is a truly great product, it may not really last for 4 days, but it definitely makes my lashes look great without clumping or looking overly made up. Personally, I have a light complexion and shy away from black mascara but this one is great. It simply colors your lashes rather than gunking up all over your face. It does not run, but if you sleep in it sometimes it will smudge. It also may be a little pricey, but the tube lasts forever(I'm on my 6th month). Love it! Would you buy this product again? Yes

I absolutely love this product and was so sadly disappointed when my local Ulta stopped carrying it. I use this as a specialized mascara base. I have really long lashes, but they naturally grow downwards. I like to curl them because I think it looks prettier, but it is quite difficult to find a mascara that will hold that initial curl I put in. Most of the time any mascara I use will cause my lashes to droop. That is where this amazing stuff comes in. I curl my lashes then I put a coat of this on just my top lashes. I then wait about a minute for it to dry completely. The curl stays perfect and then I use my lights, camera, lashes to build on top of it. Since I don't use it as a stain, I wash it off every night using a separate eye makeup remover. This is one of the very few products I continue to replace after I've used it all up. Tarte, please don't ever stop making this stuff!!!!! Would you buy this product again? Yes

I do like the way this looks on day 1, and the first time I tried it I was pleased that I could wash my face without disturbing it. The problem is that once I've slept with it on it ends up glued to my eyelids and all along my lower lash line (I don't apply it on my lower lashes, it just creeps down there in the night). It's really hard to get off of skin (also a problem when I'm rushing around in the AM and accidentally get some on my eyelid), and it needs to be applied again each morning to look nice. I'm not a fan and won't be buying it again. Would you buy this product again? Yes

Went to a Tarte event at my local Ulta and was introduced to this in a different way- I was told by the makeup artist to put it over top of my mascara...? I tried it and it intensifies what is already on there and darkens it! Great for going out at night. However, it flakes easily and for someone who likes to take their eye makeup off everyday, this was a pain. It was so hard to remove even with eye makeup remover soaked on a cotton ball. It hardens to the point where it is actually painful to remove! Would you buy this product again? Yes
Love it! I bought this stuff b/c I am not a morning person and loved the idea of not having 100% bare lashes if I skipped make-up some mornings. It also stays on after you wash your face (granted you dont scrub your eyes with soap and/or make-up remover). It is great for the beach/pool as well. Although I recommned not using it on lower lashes if you will be swimming to ensure that it doesnt give you black underneath your eye (I tend to wipe eyes when I come out of water). It will stay for 2-3 days, but obviouasly if you want very defnied and black lashed you may have to apply sooner. Overall, I feel it is worth the price as it lasts a while a overall does what it claims. Would you buy this product again? Yes

I was excited when I found this product because I love to wear mascara but I'm something of an outdoorsy girl and when I go camping, kayaking or white water rafting, mascara smudges to the point where I look like the joker. This lash stain does make my lashes much darker and more noticeable for days at a time. I have very sensitive skin and eyes and this product isn't irritating at all either. It also comes off easily with the right eye makeup remover. But I don't feel like I can give it 5 stars. Although it darkens, defines and separates, it does nothing that other mascaras do. It doesn't lengthen or increase volume so lashes still look puny, just darker. Since I used this I've found waterproof mascaras that increase length and volume and also don't run and smear when wet, so I probably won't buy this one again. But still, it's something you can wear when mascara won't work so if you're in those types of situations a lot, you might want to give it a try. Would you buy this product again? Yes

This product looks very natural. There's no bulk, no clump. Should be used when you want to look like you aren't wearing any makeup. For a more played up look use a different one. And definitely need to scrub a little with eye makeup remover. Would you buy this product again? Yes

This was an amazing product! Definitely worth what I paid for it. I use it on days where I'm not in the mood for 'fussy' make up, and just want to swipe on something that will last. I got this product as a sample. This mascara definitely makes my eyelashes short long and thick when I apply it. However, I just feel funny about sleeping with any make up on my face, that's why i never tried leaving the product on overnight. It was kinda hard to get it off my lashes with my normal eye make up remover. This is a good product as far as it makes your lashes thick and long, but just not for me. I recently tried this product after getting tired of fussing with cake eyeliner to tightline followed by the right amount of mascara, neither of which looks very natural without a meticulous amount of fussing and tweaking. Enter in 4-day lash stain: this wears very naturally but the glossy black finish brings out my eyes more so than any other mascara I've ever used. Also, it wears in a very natural, flattering manner, similar to the look I get after getting out of the shower when there's just a little remaining mascara and eye;iner left in your lashes but they are a glossy black from being wet. This is truly very waterproof and will stick to your skin, so be careful how you apply (no mascara applications at the stop light). You will want to have some MU remover on hand and preferably do this before e/s or w/o e/s. This offers a much more natural finish, yet doesn't weigh down my lashes. I "tightline" with this by dabbing the tip of the wand into the base of my lashes to deposit color at the roots. This never worked with a traditional mascara before, which would have been all smudged off and/or just looked too fake and/or spidery. You have to be careful with layering this though, as the intial application can wear off within 24 hr, I've touched up later on and you can really only apply either a coat or two, or I suggest another (wash-off) mascara until the 4-day stain has completely worn off. This wears the best the 1st day, unless you touch up. I feel *considerably* more comfortable and confident in this mascara than others simply because I never have to worry about it smudging beneath my eyes or fading/smudging off and the overall effect is more natural and flattering than other mascaras I've used. Removal requires an oil-based MU remover. Would you buy this product again? Yes

I bought this mascara hoping it would work for more than one day because the name of the product is "4-day stain". Well it does not last 4 days for sure. It does well as a water-proof mascara for the first day. However, it smudges horribly when you sleep and it is incredibly hard to remove even with the best eye make-up remover. You literally have to pinch your lashes between your fingers and wipe them with make-up remover to get it off. Also it makes your lashes fall out. It is also very difficult to get off of skin when it smudges. I had to scrub my face so hard to get it off that I had huge red marks on my skin. I would recommend another Tarte product: the eco-friendly mascara. Would you buy this product again? Yes

upside: formula is non-clumpy and very natural-looking, easy to apply. downside: not sure about whether it stayed on after i wash my face. i like to clean all the makeup off my face before bed, so i couldn't really tell if the stain really worked. i just used it like mascara. This mascara is most definitely waterproof, and can last 3-4 days without removal, though it looks best only up until about day two. I haven't tried to rejuvelash so I couldn't say whether or not the mascara perks up again after applying that. It's tough to apply another mascara on top of this one since lashes tend to be pretty dry. However, I love the look I get after a fresh application. It's not great for volumizing, but the curved lash and thin formula make my already long lashes look even longer and the inky black color is great for my almost invisible blonde lashes. I can count on it for a long day without running or smearing, though I tend to remove it after about a day or two. Beyond that, it starts fading at the tips and needs a fresh application. Would you buy this product again? Yes

Definitely stays on for four days or more. I'm pretty lazy, so the idea of a 4-day tint was appealing. It satys on, and as long as you don't overdo it, it's not clumpy at all. I have pretty light lashes, and I was surprised by how well it kept them dark through showers, etc. The only issue is that it is super-tough to remove the first couple days (if you want to). I liked the idea of a 4 day stain and thought it would be more like temporary lash color, which it is not. It goes on like a traditional mascara and can be somewhat clumpy. After one night of sleep my lashes were stuck together. I did have to wait several days before the mascara wore off, so it does last for 3-4 days as stated, but it is not for me. Truly waterPROOF. No more raccoon eyes, flaking, and I can work out, swim, cry. You may not want to leave it on 4 days, but summer's ripe for it, if you do! Not clumpy; goes on smooth with a thin (not oversized), curved brush. I use baby oil gel to remove; easy if you don't overcoat your lashes. First mascara I've found with this staying power, since the one I'd used for 30 years without fail was discontinued. (I've tried a lot of brands since then!) Would you buy this product again? Yes

This is the first mascara I got from Tarte. I do like the color of the product, and it's waterproof. Stays on even in the swimming pool. It stays on for a day, but over night it leaves a slight black ring under the eye. And it can be a little rough to remove at the end of the day. I recommend an oil based makeup remover.
