I really like this product. I usually use it with the Age Rewind foundation, but found it works very well under Bare Minerals makeup as well. It was recommended to me by an Ulta Beauty consultant when she asked if I would be using it with BM. She told me that since it is silicone-free, it works well with all types of foundation. I have very sensitive fair skin with slight rosacea, especiall on cheek area, and it does NOT irritate it at all. I am now repurchasing it to use again. I'm 41 years old with slightly dry facial skin. Hopefully this will help if you are trying to decide between this and the Clean Slate, which I'm hesitant to try only because it has silicone, and I've read that it's not good for hair or skin. I used this with the re-create foundation. goes on like a moisturizer. nice,creamy texture. didn't need to use a moisturizer underneath. it has a different feel than a primer with silicone, doesn't feel greasy. I am 58, and this is the best I have ever used. Would you buy this product again? Yes

This primer made me break out too. Tarte us oily break out prone women need a primer too. Would love it if you would make one that is oil free and mattifying. I am sure this is a great product if you get occasional breakouts or less. If you have moderate acne, introduce this slowly so you do not get a major flare up if it does not work well for you. I liked the texture of it, but just did not work for me. If my skin changed I would consider trying this again. Would you buy this product again? Yes

I just got this product and have only used it a few times. I have combination skin, with a very oily T-zone. So I appreciate this product not feeling greasy or heavy. So far it does not appear to be causing any break-outs. The only thing I'm not sure of yet is how good of a primer it really makes as it does not seem to fill in the fine lines all that well; my makeup still tends to cake in the creases. But I will give it more time... Would you buy this product again? Yes

I like this, but I don't love it. It does go on smooth, but feels more like a lotion than a primer because it doesn't dry matte. I don't wear foundation, but I use primer as a base to apply blush, finishing powder, etc. I also use it to soften the look of pores, lines, etc. This primers says it will "minimize the appearance of pores naturally." I did not notice that it softened the look of my pores. My pores are not potholes in my face, but I do have some on my upper cheeks. It also states it will smooth the skin. I felt like it was more of a lotion and it did leave me with smoothed moisturized skin, but not a matte, primed finish to work with for blush, finishing powder, etc. I can't imagine applying a liquid foundation over it. And I didn't use a lot. Just a pumps worth.
So, if this product were $20, I would buy it again because of the feel it gave my skin, but not the results. I love all of Tarte, so I was disappointed in this because I wanted to love it. At $32, I'm sticking with other silicone-free primers out there.

I love thsi primer its not greasy like some primers and feels almost like a lotion when applied which is perfect for my oily skin. it made my makeup stay on all day of working at a resturaut which is pretty impressive. i would definatly recommend this. Would you buy this product again? Yes

I wanted this because it's silicone free and I thought it would be good for my oily, acne prone skin. But I can't say it did much as a primer. My makeup didn't seem to last any longer with it than without, and did not last as long as other primers I've tried. It's nice as a moisturizer, but not enough as a primer. I was initially interested in this primer because it's silicone free. Once I tried it, I was sold. It really lets your makeup's pigments show. A primer should create a barrier between your makeup and your skin, and this product does just that. There's no mixing at all, unlike other primers. In fact the best summary of this product would be: It makes every other primer look like a joke! Would you buy this product again? Yes

I didn't think this step was necessary after trying a few other primers... But this is my new primer! Won't go without it! A little goes a long way on my skin. It's also lightweight, non-greasy. I have large pores, and it does minimize the look of them a little. On a good complexion day, I just slip this on! It makes my skin feel smooth and soft. My mineral foundation glides on - I usually let it dry for 5-10min before applying foundation - and it keeps my skin feeling moisturized throughout the day. I noticed my makeup lasts longer as well. Using the micronized clay finishing powder helps too. It's a great combo for my skin! Would you buy this product again? Yes

This primer is amazing! I have very sensitive skin and this primer is very calming. And it truly does begin to change your skin. After a couple months my skin is more taut and looks more youthful. A little goes a long way. It goes on smooth, moisturizes and gives your skin a soft glow. I don't know how you do it Tarte! I am obsessed! Thank you for another phenomenal product! It makes my skin look flawless! pores smaller, no wrinkles, smooth, and keeps your makeup on for at least 12 hours. Plus I know that its helping my skin because it has such great ingredients in it! I have been using this primer for about a year and half, and I totally love it! I have the Lancome one as well, but I found it to leave a greasy feel on my face and hands. I too liked how it gave my face a fresh glow. Tarte, you need to make the bottle package a little better, my bottle feels like its empty, when there is still a lot of product. This is the best primer! I have tried everything, and nothing could control my oily, acne prone yet sensitive skin. This does it and holds my makeup almost throughout the day. I have tried both this primer and the "Clean Slate" primer and think both are great; however, I slightly prefer the Clean Slate to the ReCreate.
The ReCreate is slightly thicker than the Clean Slate and thus feels more moisturizing--the coverage is richer than the Clean Slate. It applies easily to the face and can easily stand in for a moisturizer to those of us (ahem ahem) who tend toward the oiler/combination side of things. (Heather from AZ's review above is spot on -- let the primer dry before applying your foundation.)
Like the Clean Slate, the ReCreate primer sets your foundation beautifully and ensures its smooth application. I was a primer skeptic until a Tarte rep at a Sephora applied my foundation with it -- now I can't believe I ever wore a foundation *without* primer! This primer smooths the skin, evens out the complexion, and enables you to use less foundation while achieving flawless coverage.
I also agree with other reviewers that the bottle/pump is kind of finicky. Mine stopped dispensing product about halfway through; I was able to get it to restart pumping by unscrewing the top, shaking, and replacing the top. In general I find some of Tarte's packaging to need some re-vamping (Erase concealer, for example...), but if I liked the ReCreate better than the Clean Slate, the packaging wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me. After having tried both, though, and preferring the lighter Clean Slate for my oily/combination skin, the packaging of the Clean Slate is an added bonus.
Overall, a perfectly wonderful product that I recommend highly for gals with skin that tends toward dry. Would you buy this product again? Yes

I wish I could try this product, but am allergic to sunflower extract. Lots of people who have sensitive skin and require paraben free cosmetics have allergies to sunflower and almond. Avacado and grapeseed have great benefits and fewer people are allergic. I would love to see an anti-aging silicone free primer without sunflower..... Would you buy this product again? Yes

I have tried many primers before, and although I love their look, primers always make my acne prone skin break out. When I found Tarte's ReCreate primer which is free from silicone and several other nasty ingredients, I thought I would give it a try. And I am so glad I did! This primer not only holds my make-up in place but it also moisturizes my skin and I have yet to break out from it. As I've only been using this primer for a week, I'm not sure about the wrinkle-rewind technology claim, but regardless, if you are looking for a breakout-free primer that does the job and then some, Tarte's is for you. i have been using the clean slate primer for a while now. and really like it. but decided to try this one. and i love it! it really gives my skin the moisture that it needs, without being oily. and my makeup goes on like silk. i too, had a problem with the pump acting up and have to pump it several times to get the product to come out. and this happened after the first few uses. but the product is so good im still going to keep using it. i've already ordered my second bottle:) gotta have it!!! This is the first primer I've ever tried, and I think it's pretty darn good! I got a deluxe sample size from a kit and will probably purchase the full size. It feels light on my skin, and doesn't break me out. I haven't noticed any "wrinkle rewind" action so far, but it's still pretty new to me. I have large pores on my face, & this primer works like no other to deminish the look of these pores, rather than clog & accentuate them (as I've found most primers to do). I love how moisturizing it is, without being oily. Also, it gives you a slight glow to your skin. Even with my makeup on top of it, I immediately started getting compliments about the glow of my skin. And this was while being sick! Also, I love how using this primer, greatly reduces the amount of foundation needed. I have a lot of skin issues, so I tend to use the tinted moisturizer, then the primer, then the concealer, then foundation. But each layer is minuscule, without that heavily makeup layered look. Which is great for days when my skin issues (auto immune dermatitis related) are flaring up, & I'm feeling self-conscious about it. Thanks TARTE for fabulous products! After reading a couple reviews, I decided to ditch my old primer and give this one a try. I have very oily skin with pink undertones. While I don't think it controlled my oil as much as I would like, it was still better than other primers I've tried. My favorite WAS from Smashbox but I'm trying to use products that are healthier for my skin. I already use Tarte's oil free foundation and love it, so it didn't make sense to keep using a primer with chemicals. TIP FOR OILY SKIN- LET THE PRIMER DRY BEFORE APPLYING FOUNDATION. If not, skin will feel oily. Overall, I would rate this primer a 4. Would you buy this product again? Yes

The only primer I will ever use. I have tried them all, Smashbox, Bare Escentual, MAC, Nars, YSL, the list goes on and on. This is the best one. Doesn't feel oily at all and also doesn't feel too dry. Foundation goes on like silk and stays all day. I am very oily and since I have been using this I never need to touch up during the day. i am a usual for the clean slate natural face primer, but i decided to try this primer out. the product itself is good: very moisturizing and fast-absorbing. i think it works good to hold makeup in place. my one qualm with this is that the bottle is kind of wonky; it became hard to get the product out because of the pump. i probably used 2/3 of it before the pump was misbehaving. overall, though, good product; would recommend it for those who need some extra moisture. I will give it to Tarte for blazing the trail for others to hopefully follow. This primer is not my favorite, but I really give it extra credit for not having silicone in the formula. I have very dry skin and that is a big culprit for why this doesn't work as well for me. It blends well and feels nice going on skin, but I end up with flaky areas if I use a mineral foundation. If you use a different foundation than Tarte's, this is a great primer to smooth your skin and lengthen its wear. I like to wear it on my no-makeup days in order to moisturize my acne prone skin and brighten my complexion. This would be a great product for the minimalist who wants a little more oomph from their simple moisturizer. I compare this to TF brand Poreless Primer and find this to do a nicer job without clogging and without all sorts of unnatural ingredients. Would you buy this product again? Yes
