I really love these! I am sooo sad that they are being discontinued, but I am certainly making sure to pick up all of the shades that I want while they're on sale! There is a lovely selection of color choices for this product and all of them perform beautifully! They are so sparkly and blend seamlessly with other colors! I have owned some of mine for several years and have not had issues with the texture changing or drying out. They are absolutely budge-proof, and really are pretty easy to work with as long as you work somewhat quickly. This may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I think just about anyone would love them if they gave them a chance. (The roller for the loose shadow is also a nice touch for those who, like me, are coordinationally challenged...) ;) Would you buy this product again? Yes

Overall a nice product. I probably like my Tarte eyeshadow palettes a little more, but this product is versatile. You can use the cream side, and use the "loose" side together, or just use one by itself. As always the colors are great. Would you buy this product again? Yes

These are very nice shades. I recommend the lighter colors. My favorite are still the Gem Pots which appear to have sold out now. I hope Tarte will continue to make them and in more colors in the future. The Gem Pots are the best by far for eye shadow with these and the powder coming in about the same. I would also like to see more pigment if possible but not too much or the natural look would be lost. Having a natural product would be more subtle than most are used to but it is because of the lack of chemicals. So I prefer the pigment stay as is if it means not adding chemicals. I have gunmetal. I like the idea of this but I find the shadow color a little too sheer. The applicators (rollor and brush) don't go on smoothly and a little difficult to use, in order for it to look nice. This didn't work for me but I plan on trying the cream shadows. Love these! Color is great and they wear well, also great to wear under the Tarte pressed shadows. I have the sandstone, the bronze, and the burnt bronze. I had the moss but I ended up giving it to my friend since it was not flattering on me. The burnt bronze is my absolute favorite. Take care not to use too much on the brush when applying, it took me a couple practice runs to really get the right effect, which is gorgeous! Would you buy this product again? Yes

Purchased the Rose Gold color in May 2011, and fell in love with the product. There is truth to its staying power, even in high humidity. However, I am disappointed that the cream base dries out extremely quickly. After a little over 2 months of occasional use, the cream became clumpy. I can no longer use the brush applicator provided, because it makes a complete mess while putting it on. I hate to waste, so I end up putting small blots in my lids and use my fingers to smooth it out. Product still works fine, but not as great as before.
Would I purchase this product again? Not unless Tarte changes the formula/packaging to extend the longevity of the cream based shadow.
Love the color. Love the look. Love the staying power. Hate that I spent so much for a product that doesn't last. Would you buy this product again? Yes

This is my second review of the product. I had gotten the a purple color in a kit last year. It was dark. And messy to use. I wound up getting the bronze in a set. This one is also a bit dark, but easier to use. Very pretty. Recently I purchased Rosegold. The lighter colors are definitely better. I know the purple was a one time-in a special kit thing, but Tarte should definitely stick with lighter colors in this product line. Absolutely worth the second look. I pick up three of these at Ulta on sale for $8. Man! If I had tried these before the sale was over I would have went back and bought one of every color!!! Between the two parts the color stays on ALL day!
First, the 'cream' part is much more like a liquid, and if brushes on really nicely.
Second, the roller-ball powder part takes a little getting used to. I use an eyeshadow brush to make sure I get an even application and also so I can blend it out. LOVE THESE!!! Would you buy this product again? Yes

I own this in Sandstone. I really like the formula and especially love the shimmy powder in the roller ball. I wore it on a day where I worked 12 hours and didn't wash it off until bedtime - it stayed on and stayed put! Even the shimmer was still there. Great product! I definitely recommend it. My only complaint is that since the package is so slim, it was a little hard to apply. But once I got the hang of it, it was smooth sailing. Would you buy this product again? Yes

Hello. I just received my moss lock and roll today. As soon as I opened the package I tried it in. The color is beautiful. It really makes my hazel eyes stand out. It stayed on all day until I took it off. It took a little getting used to as I have never worked with an application system like the one this has. I will be a pro at it soon enough. I just placed my order on Wednesday and it came today. Tarte is so great about getting the orders shipped to us so quickly. Loved the purple color in Lock and roll you had last year, and had the same problems as others have mentioned with the dry out and roller hurting my eye lid. But would like to see the purple return. Mine came in a kit for summer and would like to see it offered again. The ease of only putting it on once for the entire day was great, but sort of a poor buy at this price when it dries up. The cream colors in my package were already dried up. BOO-Hoo. Tarte you are on the ball with offereing these products, but need to fine tune a few hings here and there. Your prices are a little higher than I would like to see, otherwise I might as well be at a department store trying these on with no surprises. You can not change if your customers don't let you know so ...there we go.
Minerals are now being carried by Lancome and other high end cosmetic companies, please don't send me back to the mall.
I have ordered several of your other products, ie "Peaches and Creme", not working for me or the Tanner. Left a little miffed with so many products not performing up to par. Come on Tarte, I am willing to give you another chance, if just for the waterproofs alone.

I own three shade of the Lock and Roll eyeshadow....the 2 bronze ones and the olive green. I'm super happy with all of them. First, because they truly ARE waterproof and they last until you take them off. The colors are gorgeous...very rich and pigmented. At first, I had to figure out the best way to apply the shadows, but once I did, its a cinch to apply them.
I find that when you apply the cream, its best to dab small dots on your eyelid and rub it in with your fingertips. If you need more, do it again. Because the colors are so pigmented, I think its best to start with a light application and add more as you want.
The powder roller is super easy to apply....literally just roll it on where you want it. (I use in the crease). The powder doesn't scatter and fly all over. I intend to purchase additional colors because I'm so happy with the product. Would you buy this product again? Yes

I have this in slate, the colour and wear time is great, but application is tricky, so it's a bit gimmicky. The brush included applies the product a bit streaky and the rollerball end can pinch. I just used my makeup brushes to get around this since it does everything else it promises and holds up beautifully in the TX heat & humidity. Definitely worth purchasing if you just want colour that's bolder than powder and more long-wearing. Would you buy this product again? Yes

I was a little worried about this product after reading some of the reviews. I bought the quartz, and I think it's beautiful. I'm very into shimmery shadows, so I thought this was great. It wasn't as hard to apply as I anticipated. However I do agree that the roller ball applicator is difficult. I have this in Burnt Bronze. I love how easy it is to apply! I can take this on the go with me with no problem. I usually take it with me when I travel because it looks great on, lasts all day, and takes up so little space. I think this has the perfect amount of shimmer. I love this eyeshadow. I have it in rose gold and I have burnt bronze on the way. They are very pretty and easy to apply. A must in my pre-workout beauty routine. Foundation, powder, lock and roll, mascara -DONE! I didnt give it 5 stars because I have problems with the rollerball hurting my eyelid which makes my eye water off the shadow in my inner corners. Then I have to reapply or put it on my finger and pat it which I think is wasteful. I do agree with a reviewer who said these should come in mini sizes. Easier to throw in the purse/ gym bag and won't waste as much product if it dries out after heavy use. Would you buy this product again? Yes

Truly a wonderful product. I have it in bronze and dark bronze and love the shimmer and glow it gives. I paint on a thin layer of the liquid, let it dry completely with my lids as closed as possible so it doesn't settle in the creases, and then put a stripe of the powder on with the roller which I spread over the lid with a brush. Ok, this has become my HG eyeshadow!!!!! Tarte has outdone themselves with this, IMO!!! I discovered this about 2 weeks ago in the Sephora Bronze Eye kit, omg!!!! I have the burnt bronze color, which is great for a day on the beach, luau, or in a casual office situation. Sometimes I won't use the loose powder and enjoy the long-lasting cream formula. You need to act quickly to spread the cream nicely, but if you have the speed, it blends well. With the loose powder, I keep as close to my lashes as possible and tap lightly to set it down. I haven't seen any creasing even without primers.

I bought the bronze color and I truly love it. Unlike other reviewers, I haven't had any problems applying the liquid and then the powder. I think the bronze can be subtle enough for day, however with more application it's perfect for a night out.

These are such a great idea. I own them in 5 colors and use them frequently. Yes the liquid can be messy but I blend it gently into my eyelid with a finger before it dries, and sometimes I have to clean up a little around the edges if it smudges too far. I use the rollerball to apply the shadow- tapping the product down to the end first- and then spread it using an eyeshadow brush. If I set it with Tarte loose powder it stays all day, only creasing in extreme circumstances. I can also apply other shadows over them to shade them a bit and it helps those stay too, but only if I don't apply them too thickly. Would you buy this product again? Yes

I have a love-hate relationship with this product. While it stays on forever, it is kind of dry and once you use it for a month or two its really hard to get the liquid product out. And the trick to getting the powder out is to shake it before applying. The color is great, its clean and convenient, but this product could definitely use some research and overhaul. I really like the idea of this product, but it's just a too messy for me. I have it in amethyst, which produces a really great rich, shimmery dark purple. However, for the everyday going to work look, it's a bit much. It also requires a lot more patience and precision than I have time for in the morning. That being said, it's not for me, but it might be great for someone who is looking for full-on color and has the time to put it on so it doesn't get all smudgy and gross. I have this in Deep Amethyst (I wish they would sell it on here!) It is beautiful. Many people complain about the cream shadow and I do understand what you mean. It can look cakey. I usually just wear the cream shadow as a liner instead of applying it all over my lid and then use the powder after as shadow. The rollerball isn't as hard as you think. Just test it on your fingers first. NOTE TO TARTE STAFF!!! Please make these in mini sizes! They are far better to carry around and the product doesn't spoil as fast. Messy to apply with the applicators. Doe foot would be better for the liquid. If they want to keep the roll on, the powder should be a sheer light color to seal the bolder liquid color. That way it won't look so messy. I found that I have to dab on the liquid and blend (fast because it dries fast) with my finger, then roll the powder onto my finger to dab where I need it. Less messy but takes way more time. Undecided on if I will buy again (not an option in the drop down box below). Would you buy this product again? Yes

This product is kind of hard to apply. The liquid shadow part has a tiny brush applicator, which is hard to work with and the product dries quickly. I think it would make more sense to have a sponge applicator. The rollerball does not work very well for applying the product evenly, especially on top of the liquid eyeshadow, and the finished look is splochy. The color is definitely nice, but this needs a little improvement. Would you buy this product again? Yes

I really love this product. I love the color I got (rosegold), and the packaging. It makes it so perfect for everyday and it goes on so easily. As a college student this is perfect for me, especially those mornings I over sleep. =P The only problem I had with this was the little roller ball gave me problems at first and sort of hurt my eyelid if I wasn't careful in the beginning. I should have known better seeing as I generally prefer powder shadows. I'm just such a huge Tarte fan, however, that I thought I'd give it a shot anyway. I just found the cream to be creasy and the powder difficult to roll out. It just made my eyes look messy. Just not for me. I did give it a worthy shot though I promise! Have a couple of these from the Aquatic set, and so far I've only used one. I don't really like the Citrine, as it didn't work well with my eyes and color features, but am really excited to try the other colors. Also am going to get a set witht he Dark Amethyst in it, which will really set off my eyes and make them POP! It was a little difficult trying to figure out exactly how to use them, as there were no instructions included, but have since found some little nuggest of info that will make it easier next time. If I try and it turns out better and looks better, will come back and review again. This was totally on the Citrine, which wasn't for me. I have this in Sandstone from the Aqua Essentials Set. The color is amazingly natural on my somewhat tan skin, and it's not too shimmery for everyday wear. The cream side makes a great base for the loose powder and other pressed eyeshadows as well. It was advertised as a good wedding day item, but I think the sparkles in the cream are actually too large for wedding day photography demands (I've tried it on a friend). It's also not easy to use the loose side alone. It doesn't stick to anything. Also since the cream is so liquidy, it takes practice to spread it to the right consistency before letting it dry. You should probably wipe off some of the product on the inside of the tube before taking the applicator to your eye. You also need to get the timing right between applications of the two sides. Don't wait long enough and the cream comes off. Wait too long and the loose side doesn't stick. There's a bit of learning to do, but it really does stay on ALL DAY and it's actually crease-proof! It's of the only products that won't crease on my oily, hooded eyelids! I also love the colors they offer. I tried them on at Sephora, and even the darker ones looked gorgeous on without looking like I was too made up. Would you buy this product again? Yes
