I got this in nectar. It's not my favorite Tarte product, but since I got it on sale, I don't mind. I like the color, but I don't think it's as pigmented as I expected from a stain. But when I use the stain and then the gloss, it creates a nice, pretty look. It almost seems to get darker as I wear it, which is a little strange, but since it starts out so light, I kind of like that.

I have this in cherry and wish it was a little darker on me. Maybe its just my lips, but I have to put on a lot to get just a little color. Other than that, I love it! Not sure why other reviews are negative about the taste and smell....I think it smells great and it tastes like lip gloss. Its not bonnie bell or lip smackers people, come on!

hi, i didnt like the color that i got, it was too dark, which was berrylicious. plus it made my lips very itchy and it stings! i wish i had returned this, but it says that it was on final sale :( i hope tarte could help me on this one.

this was the coolest thing that i bought from tarte! the colors look really bright but they dont stay that bright. you put the stain on first, and if anyone has ever used lipstain, it is really drying. then you put the gloss on over. very complimenting colors and a great idea to keep the lips moist!

I have never given such a low rating to a tarte product before but I guess I was expecting too much from this because I've gotten spoiled using the lipsurgence lip stains, the maracuja lip glosses and even the vitamin infused lipsticks. I just found this project very drying with a funky flavor and smell. I bought the one in mauve and I wish I could have returned it. The color description was very misleading because it was more of a dark plum color as another reviewer had mentioned. I unfortunately wouldn't buy this specific product again or recommend it to anyone.

I guess it's just me, based on all the glowing reviews on here, but I've tried this in two colors (cherry and nude) and both were a hideous disaster. First of all, the cherry is WAY dark, definitely not what I'd consider a true "cherry" color. And for both colors, I can't for the life of me get the stain to apply evenly, even after exfoliating the crap out of my lips. My bottom lip ends up too dark, and my top lip looks completely bare--the color just WILL NOT stick to my top lip no matter what I do! And with the nude color at least, I hate the lip gloss and find it completely unwearable, a weird milky-beige color that is super sparkly with a thick, sticky texture. Just a dreadful product, in my opinion. The Lipsurgence Matte lip tints, on the other hand, are AMAZING! :)

I bought this in Berrylicious and I must say the lipgloss part is really awesome.
It's got a rich, thick consisticy (a little sticky) but the color payoff is worth it.
My only gripe with this product is the lipstain. It's just NO good. It's watery, has a strange consistancy, and has almost no color pay off alone, but if your layer it with the lipgloss it looks fine.

I absolutely LOVE this stuff! I used to be a big fan of Benetint but no more. I got three colors- cherry, berry, and nectar. All are different and all are great. The stains are subtle but have enough color that you don't feel you wasted your time applying them. They also are not drying and don't seem to settle into crevices. The glosses are very complementary to the lip stains or great on their own. I came back to order two more colors.

Got this in mauve and now I want practically all the other colors! Love both sides of this. The stain side leaves a pretty, unobtrusive color (unlike how it appears in the tube). Though my lips are already plump, the gloss side really makes them more so---can't have too much of that from a lip gloss.

This lips stain and gloss duo is amazing! The stain takes and instantly dries into the lips for maximum color stain. Then the gloss adds a soft nourishing glow to the lips. I love this product. I do wish I had all of the other colors! Tarte should make a bundle pack!

I LOVE this stain! I've just reordered it in the Nude shade. It seems to adapt to your own skin tone and make you look more awesome :) I can't wait to try it in more colors, but not going to lie, I could go through the Nude shade by the gallon!

I did wish the stain lasted a little longer, it usually takes a couple applications to get it to stick. Normally I'll apply the stain, wait for it to dry and then throw some more one.

Also, I wish that I could buy that on it's own. I'm a total chapstick and mascara kind of girl, but the stain adds a little more oomph to my everyday look. Usually takes a couple applications to get it to stick.

I have this in nectar and love it. It gives my lips a natural look with a pop of shine. I like that my lips will still look nice once the gloss has gone away. I am not much into lipstick so this is perfect for me cause I like gloss, but love that this will tint my lips with color that will stay so with or without the gloss my lips look nice :)

Got lots of compliments wearing the stain and a bit of the gloss :) At first my lips felt a bit itchy because the stain seeps into the crevices of your lips, but it wasn't unbearable. The nude shade is just a darker version of my natural lip color, which is great! I was sad when the stain applicator got a little fussy after a few weeks of use, and I had to make sure it was closed tightly so that the product wouldn't get all over my purse. It is still usable, but not so convenient.

I have this in Nude and don't know if its just me, but it seems to take a while to get the stain applied properly. I guess I am just used to a one step lip fix like the LipSurgence (love that one). When applying the stain I never get enough on the applicator and then it would go on messy. I applied the gloss when the stain dried and it is pretty. Its a little sticky but I think all glosses are. I will try a different color next.

I recieved this lipstain in nectar and LOVE it! The stain stays very well, looks and feels natural and will not come off quicjly like other lipstains I have tried. The gloss that goes over plumps lips and has a nice shine.

I have this in nectar. It's a little more orangey than I expected, especially the stain, but it does look nice with my Amazonian Clay blush in tipsy! The gloss is more opaque than you might think, so it does contribute to the color. It would look nice if you're going for those vintagey coral lips or want a subdued version of the orange lip that is so in this summer.

The stain is gel based, which is nice because you can layer the intensity to your liking and it doesn't highlight any flakes that may be on your lips. Of course, the stain lasts all day. The gloss is a plumping gloss, and it's the "burning/tingling" kind, not the "cooling/tingling" kind. It may be unpleasant if you're not used to it. The stain and gloss look great alone or together, giving you 3 looks in 1 tube.

My main objection is the smell/taste. The stain smells like a nasty artificial fruit flavored candy or medicine. The gloss smells like play-doh or fimo clay. Those are probably poor descriptions, but it's the best I could come up with. It's strange, because Tarte's products are all natural, that both the stain and gloss smell so weird and artificial.

Love the product. If only I could find it at retail. They are always sold out of it. I have it in cherry. Nice red that would would on everyone. It is sheer once you put the gloss on. I often see sheer red lips in magazines and wonder how they get that effect. Now I can get the same look with this. The color I have has no shimmer. If it does, it is too small for me to notice. I find that it is a little bit hard to get an even application with the stain. It takes quite a bit of playing. Pay more attention to the inside of your lips than the outer lip line. Wait about five to ten minutes for the tint to really dry before putting the gloss on top. I like to put on the stain before I do any of my other makeup. Then half way through, fix if it isn't even. At the end of my makeup I put the gloss over. I get a nice sheer red. The gloss is nice and shiny. It is a bit sticky, not as bad as some others I have tried, and lasts as long as most glosses (not very long). However, it tastes good (a little sweet) and actually it plumps your lips. If you are opposed to tingling gloss, this is not for you. I love that when the gloss wears off, the stain is left behind. You can add more gloss if you want or just leave it be. I gave four stars because it is next to impossible to find these at retail to try the different colors and when applying it can be tricky. It takes a bit of effort to get an nice even application. Also, like most long wearing lip products, this wears on the inside of the lips before the lip line. You will eventually get the ring around the mouth effect, particularly if you are starting to see lip lines or have had them for a while. The only way to really prevent that is to constantly reapply the gloss. Then you run out of the gloss way before the stain. Of tarte glosses, this is my second favorite next to the pure optic glosses. I would buy it again, if I could find it;)

I really like the berrylicious color I purchased. It is a beautiful dark color. However, I wish you could get this without the plumping option. I have kids at home and worry this could irritate their sensitive skin when I kiss them. So, this will have to be something I wear when I am going to be at work all day or the rare night out.

I have this in Cherry, and absolutely love it. The stain applies evenly, and lasts well throughout the day. I also love that the gloss isn't too sticky. My only recommendation is to exfoliate dry/chapped lips before applying this product to avoid uneven coverage of the stain.

Since I love my tarte Lipsurgence lipstain, I knew I wanted to give this product a try, so I bought it in "pink." I'm so glad I did--I absolutely LOVE it! Not only does the pink color of the lipstain look great with my fair complexion, the subtle shimmering pigmentation looks so lovely! The gloss is even more terrific--it does enhance my lips and make them appear fuller; I can feel the tingle as it works. But best of all, it gives the color a glamorous, glossy finish that looks so neat and polished as to be professional. The lipstain will last just about all day and will survive a little light eating and drinking just like the other tarte lipstains. The gloss lasts about two and a half hours. But the container is so small and portable, sticking it in my purse to reapply later isn't a problem. I think this product is ideal for special occasions when you really want your lips to be noticeable; the shimmering color of the lipstain combined with the shiny finish of the gloss will definitely call attention to your lips!
The only not-so-great thing about this product is that it can be difficult to apply. The lipstain applicator is a wand that's soft at the end like you usually see with lipgloss. Trying to apply lipstain with this kind of applicator is very tricky. The application can be clumpy and uneven. It takes some time to spread it around and even it out. During this process, it's hard not to smear some of it outside your lip area. I've found that using a reverse lip liner pencil helps keep the lipstain and lipgloss from straying outside of the lip line. This product is expensive, but it's incredible and worth every penny. I highly recommend it, and I plan to buy more colors myself!

Beautiful stain and a really nice lip gloss with All Natural ingredients without parabens etc! 2nd fav to my tarte lip tints and also for more natural and subtle look in the colors I got Nude & Mauve! Too little in the tube for me as I tend to finish fast but Love them a lot, Please bring larger tube sizes for those of us who can never be without them. Thank you!

Overall this product is great! Stays like it should, and has a nice gloss finish. My only issue was with the color (I got it in Nude). I like real pale lips, and unfortunately the color didn't make much of a difference on my natural lip color. I'm sure if I went for one of the other shades for a dramatic lip, it would've been perfect. I would recommend this to anyone who loves lip stains or is new to them.

I really like this product. I received NUDE in a value pack I bought. I have a light/medium olive skin tone, and it looks great on me!

Sometimes I just use the stain to give my lips a little more color, but when I layer the gloss on top, it's magic! The gloss has this sweet scent that's pleasant but not overpowering. More importantly, I really do feel as if my small lips are poutier, fuller, and plumper. I get that glassy lip look like int he magazines from this little tube.

The only thing I didn't like is how the tint accumulates on the corners of my lips. You have to be careful to spread it out evenly before it dries. But other than that, I recommend this product :)

I have the pink. I love the staying power and the color. The part that you put on first (the stain) actually feels slimey, but dries out quick. The second part (the gloss) looks great and feels like a typical gloss. It also gives your lips a "tingle".

I am a smoker and heavy coffee drinker and have had problems for years finding a lipstick/gloss/stain that really does stay put after even an hour. I am madly in love with this product. I have it in Mauve and yes it does look dark in the tube, however once it is on with the gloss the colour is just perfect. By far the best and only lip product I have ever rated above 2 stars. Amazing!!!

I bought this is nude and in mauve. It seems to last several hours with out me having to reapply. I like the way the gloss feels as well. I love the nude color. I have these in Nude and Berrylicious and they are amazing!!!! They look really dark from looking at the color swatches, but they are the most beautiful colors that would compliment any skin tone. Ooh, and the gloss gives you this wonderful tingling feeling to your lips, like it's giving them a little plump! Even after the gloss wears off, which is a good 2-4 hrs for me, there is still that lovely color of the stain left. This is one stain/gloss every woman should have in her make up bag!!!!

I have 3 of the Rise and Shine colors: nude, berrylicious, cherry. This was my introduction to the Tarte line. I bought a christmas set at sephora and the Nude color was part of it. I liked so much that went for more daring colors and "My First Ever" red lip stain/gloss. It lasts a long time even after the gloss is gone. I love the smell of it. It gives a tingling sensation when you put it on but I like it. Tarte got me as a customer for life with this product.

I got this in nude, and I'm very happy with it. It feels light and lasts several hours if you apply a good amount. Also, when I sip on my coffee in the morning after first applying, it doesn't leave a big wet lip mark on the plastic rim of my cup. It's very sheer and not sticky. Be careful when you close the stain-half of the tube just in case there is any excess. Starting out with nude has been a great every day; I'm going to get cherry next just to try a color that pops.

I'm not sure if I got a defective product but my lip stain/gloss was horrible! I ordered it in mauve (which actually comes on way darker than mauve, more like a plum or berry color) and the stain part would peel off of my lips no matter how I applied it. It looked really gross. And to top it all of, the gloss part badly burned my lips. Weird. I wish I would've returned it but I never did. I wish it would've worked out because the color was really nice.

I have this gloss/stain in nude and I really love it =) it does have great staying power and I also sometimes like to use the gloss by itself because it is so pretty. The stain is sort of dark but with the lipgloss layered over it, its hard to explain but it sort of creates a multi-dimensional colored effect. I think I own kind of a lot of lip products and this one is definitely in my top five favorites.

First off, I have very fair skin. I look good in pinks and purples and prefer a more natural look.
Now, I bought this gloss in NECTAR. I thought it looked like a nice pretty pink shade. When I got it looked much brighter in person.
The stain - it works well. It does stain your skin (I tested it on my hand first) and it will wash off with soap. It lasts a long time. Even if you lick your lips and eat (and the gloss completely disappears) you still have a nice pink tone to your lips. It smells really good.
The gloss - it is not sticky, yet was still glossy after I ate and takes quite a bit of licking to fully wear off. I am not sure how they can make such a smooth gloss stay so well. It is rather thick but it's a nice thick. I forgot that it was a "plumping" gloss until about 20 seconds after I applied it. It does not tingle. It feels more cooling like mint without being minty. It actually feels good and it does go away after about a minute. I don't see much "plumping" but I don't believe plumpers actually work.
Together they work terrifically. They both smell the same and taste ok. The bright color does make your lips appear a little fuller and looks surprisingly good. The gloss tones down the stain just a tad - you really don't need much stain. It is very bright (think; eating a pinkish-red popsicle then putting gloss on your lips) so I am a bit worried about the other colors, but I will buy more because I LOVE IT!
When I buy more colors I will probably review them too.

I love this lip stain so much! I have it in Nude. I thought it looked a little dark in the tube, but it goes on beautifully. It doesn't dry my lips at all, and it stays on for ages! The gloss that goes with it is so sparkly and gorgeous! I would even buy it by itself. Another thing I love about it is the smell!!! The whole time I have it on my lips they feel really good and there's a faint scent almost like vanilla. Love it so much I ordered another shade!

I have finally found my lip gloss. I tend to be really critical of gloss because it can be sticky and gummy. I am also not really a fan of wearing tons of makeup and prefer a more natural look. This stain/gloss was incredible, gave me just enough color, lasted forever, and made my lips look full and amazing. It also tastes pretty good so I will have to start purchasing in bulk due to the increase in kisses from my husband. I was cracking up about how pretty his lips looked after all the kisses since he had some gloss on his lips. I will most definitely be buying this gloss again. Thanks tarte!

I always get excited about getting myself a new lipstick, but then my excitement quickly fades when I realize it just doesn't stay on. I just got the nude rise & shine duo, and I absolutely love it. Perfect solution to fading lip color. The stain stays all day, and the gloss lasts pretty long, too. Even when the gloss wears off, though, I still have the stain color left underneath and just reapply the gloss.

I have this in Cherry and it actually shows up darker on my lips that it is on the bottle- though it's not a bad thing because it makes it a really seductive look on my Agent 14 (a.k.a. Disguise) complexion. It's really moisturizing and lasts all day but if you're a licker like me then you may need to apply the gloss more often.

Make sure you read the directions on the container- 1 to 2 swipes of the stain is all you really need and make sure you make smooth movements or else you may stain the edge of your lip (borderline skin.)

There were a few occasions where a few hours later the stain appeared more evident in some creases of my lower lip but that was fixed by exfoliating a bit prior to putting it on.
