I can't stop talking about this moisturizer.. I just want to yell it from the rooftops, because I have tried E V E R Y T H I N G! and FINALLY this tinted moisturizer is everything I have ever wanted in a complexion product. The coverage is phenomenal for a TM, and it goes on so creamy and silky smooth when blended. I have extremely finicky skin that is prone to break outs and rashes, etc, etc, but I have been using this formula for 2 weeks now and not one blemish! My face was also very itchy, not quite dry, but irritated, and NO irritation from this! So excited about this product!!

This tinted moisturizer is amazing. I bought it to use over my normal foundation when my skin gets dry throughout the day. But I've found that I like it better than the Dior foundation I normally wear. It stays on great and is not sliding off my face by the end of the day. I never thought I would ever switch from a foundation to a tinted moisturizer because I have a lot of redness on my face, but this product really evens out my skin tone. I'm very happy! I finally got the smooth operator in agent 06 switching from bare minerals which irritated my skin.
This gives me perfect coverage that I want. (I'm not big on the heavy stuff since I have clear skin)
I used a little of the Tarte primer before applying it one time and didn't the other and I can def say that I prefer using primer first as it seems to give it a more matte smooth finish and not sticky.
Agent 06 is perfect match for my skin the lady at Ulta suggested it and I was a little skeptical because I have more pink undertones and 06 said for yellow....I am guessing I may need agent 08 for the summer... I also purchased the Airbrush finish brush to apply this with (I dont like using my fingers) :) I dab little bits over my face of the moisturizer and then brush it in. I must say if you don't like using your fingers and hate sponges the Tarte Airbrush finish brush works excellent at lightly blending the smooth operator in. Love this moisturizer! It gives some pretty decent coverage without a pile of it on! Would you buy this product again? Yes

On days that I do not need as much coverage as the Amazonian full coverage foundation and my skin is well behaved this product is essential! Great coverage, looks natural, evens out skin tone and even covers light imperfections. Amazing, easy and the coverage is adjustable with applying a bit more where needed with the foundation brush and a finish of smooth operator finishing powder. I am pale as a ghost with a bit of a yellow undertone and the agent 06 proved a tad bit dark for me but still managed to blend in well with no telltale signs of lines of demarcation. Very pleased with this product, perfect for everyday and weekends, but for a night out I would go for the Amazonian clay full coverage foundation with the airbrushing brush. Never ever though I would come to love a tinted moisterizer. Both of these formulations are great for your skin, can't go wrong products! Would you buy this product again? Yes

I love this product! I have oily and acne proned skin... this doesnt affect me at all! I love that its tinted so I can use together with my pressed powder. I dont like foundations so this is perfect for slightly covering without feeling overdone or cakey!... it is light and may even help with the oil control! Luckily they produce in my color... but I am giving it 4 stars for the fact that there need to be more color varieties for darker skin people! :) Would you buy this product again? Yes

I've tried many tinted moisturizers, and this one is not the best on the market. I bought it during the Friends and Family sale, thinking it would be a perfect tinted moisturizer for those lazy days. I was shocked when I applied it with my hands that there were flecks of fine gold glitter. It's not noticeable on the face, so I suppose it's supposed to give you a natural glow. Great tinted moisturizer. I used to wear liquid foundation (Lorac) but I prefer using this instead, it doesn't have as much coverage as a foundation but it feels a lot better on the skin and this bottle lasts a long time! I pair it with concealer when I need more coverage. Usually I wear Cetaphil moisturizer with spf underneath this to give me more sun protection and moisture on the days my skin is really dry, but overall great product. One of the best tinted moisturizers I've tried! I use this year round because I don't like foundation, and it works really well. It's enough coverage that it evens out my skin tone well without being heavy. It's really light and airy and feels really natural. It also has just enough moisture in the summer without being sticky, and enough in the winter where if you apply moisturizer beforehand (if you have dry skin), you're good to go. It also has a natural glow to it that really makes your skin light up. I've gotten so many complements on my skin since I've used this product, and it is my daily go-to face product! Overall, I like this product a lot. It is very sheer, and makes the skin look glowy and pretty. BUT, I am unhappy with the coverage, and I don't like the smell. About the coverage, although I don't have many skin imperfections, I look for something to make my face color even, and this one did not do the trick. About the smell, it's just a bit on the good-smelling side, while I prefer scent-free products.
So if you don't need coverage, and you don't mind a light smell, this is very beautifying. Would you buy this product again? Yes

My shades are Agent 00 and Veil: I use one or the other and sometimes both almost everyday depending on the time of year. I love this product because it's build-able to a medium to full coverage and my skin can still breathe. I use it with the maracuja concealer and no powder (in the winter) for a flawless dewy look. This is a must have for my complexion routine. I'm a housewife so it wears 10 hours for me nicely in the cool season even without Clean Slate Face Primer. In the summer it has about a 6 hour wear with Clean Slate. The Texas heat can be brutal. Would you buy this product again? Yes

I hate thick stuff on my face, but usually tinted moisturizers do not give enough coverage. However, in my desperate need and desire to switch to more natural stuff I decided to give it a try. I couldn't be happier that I did. I use very little of it when I do and then just brush on a bit of powder and it's perfect.
I love that my skin feels better after using this and I haven't had any breakout issues. I have super sensitive skin, which makes getting stuff a challenge. I, also, notice my face doesn't feel gross by the end of the day which is fabulous. I was using Studio Gear prior and I would feel like yuck by the end of the day.

I cannot say enough about this product. After using it for a week, I noticed that I was not having any breakouts and I wasn't really using my blemish treatment lotion. This moisturizer has a way of looking better the longer it's on - like after you put it on it has a way of self-adjusting on your skin. It looks really beautiful and dewy and even. It builds REALLY easily for concealer so I also stopped using concealer - I just build the tinted moisturizer. I don't use my Vitamin C primer that I used to because the Tarte Tinted Moisturizer has all kinds of vitamins in it. So this is replacing three products for me! I've used it for about three weeks now.
I am down to using my blemish treatment lotion every other day rather than every day. My skin never looked so good. This product sold me so much on Tarte that I want to get every single product that I use in their line. Can't wait to try everything else! Would you buy this product again? Yes

I use Agent 00 and truly this is the first tinted moisturizer that actually looks good on my skin. It still is semi-noticeable upon first application, but after a little while it blends to a completely natural look. (as in the color almost isn't quite right) The hard thing with my skin is I have extreme redness on cheeks and below cheek bone, this does a fairly good job covering the red. My only wish was that there was more in this to calm the redness, however I can't really complain because I'm starting to get the feeling I'm just stuck with the red. Went on smooth and did not fall into fine lines and wrinkles. The smell was not for me, but he performance of the product was on par with competitor products that toute the same abilities.
It lasted for most of the day, even in hot weather and never felt too heavy. This is very sheer and is comparable to its high end counterparts.

Great product! Works fantastic w/Tarte's mineral pressed powder + Amazonian smooth operator for controlling oil. I have VERY oily skin! Since using this combo I need to blot much much less throughout the day! I see this as a tinted moisturizer. I read other reviews saying it's a foundation. I don't see that. In fact, I never thought I'd love a TM, but I do now. I do agree that the color selection could be a bit expanded. I use fair 02 in pressed powder but the 04 in the TM. I felt the 02 was too invisible on. 04 seems a tiny bit orange (hardly obvious once I add powder) but has better coverage. The cherry on top is the high SPF & natural ingredients. I have very sensitive combination skin, in the summer it's more oily and now w/ the winter coming it gets dry in areas where I also break out, very annoying. After putting on my regular moisturizer in the most dry areas on my face it makes my skin itch a lot. I think this is a the best tinted moisturizer I've ever used! I have combination skin that tends to get oily on my forehead as the day wear on, yet dry patches on my nose and cheeks shortly after washing my face. I find this keeps everything pretty well balanced. It doesn't stick in lines, pores or dry patches and has enough coverage that I can actually see a difference, yet still see my skin shining though! It evens out my skin tone and covers any blotchiness I may have without much trouble. If there's a particularly stubborn spot, I just add a bit more moisturizer and any redness disappears. It seems to stay put all day and keeps my skin from getting too oily without settling into any dry spots. I can't feel it on my skin after applying it and it looks nice and natural--never over-done. This is great. Really smooth and covers enough while still looking natural. I switch between this and the full coverage (QVC exclusive currently). I also use it to cut the full coverage as it is very thick. This product covers any redness I have. Great tinted moisturizer! It's really light but still has a nice amount of coverage to it. It even helps to cover up my dark circles. I definitely don't have to use as much concealer when I use this first. I have a tendency to break out when I use foundation, but it hasn't been a problem with this. I haven't noticed it oxidizing after I put it on either, so I don't have to worry about having an ugly line two hours after I apply it. I'm pretty fair, but Agent 06 matches me really well. I really like this stuff! I'm middle eastern with yellow undertones/combination and I ordered Agent 14. I'm actually a bit lighter than i normally am so I'm probably going to order Agent 16 and mix the two together for when I'm darker. But on to the review...
I started off with Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer with SPF 15, put a bit of concealer around my eyes, used Tarte Agent 14 and set it with a pressed powder from Clinique. My skin feels great! It doesn't feel oily at all, it feels really soft and when i touch my face it doesn't feel like I have anything on it. It does a really good job of evening out your skin tone, and my sister said it made my face "glow". I've always used foundations but recently I've broken out so I've stopped using foundation, and I think I've found my holy grail product! The best part is its all natural, so hopefully it won't break me out.
If you have really dark spots or acne that you want to cover up then I'd suggest using a concealer on them. This product is more of a "evening out of skin tone + adding glow" product rather than a "covering up" product. Though it does SLIGHTLY diminish redness from any pimples and help even out SOME dark spots.
Also, if you have oily skin or want to make the product last all day then you DEFINITELY should use some sort of primer and set it with a powder. I've tried sooo many foundations/makeups and this so far is the best! Doesn't make you oily, evens out skin tone, adds glow, all natural oh and EASY TO APPLY! You can apply with your fingers and it still looks flawless :) Though i used both fingers and a brush on some areas. Hope this review helped! Would you buy this product again? Yes

I do have to set this with a powder, and it doesn't nothing to help control oil, but then it doesn't claim too either. I am very acne prone, and this hasn't caused me to break out. Just had to write another review. I am very acne prone, moderate acne. Since I switched brands and started using this product my skin has greatly improved. I rarely get a pimple. My skin looks better and feels better with no makeup. Love this product. Wish there was a wider color selection, but nothing mixing won't fix. I wear Agent 00 almost all year. Mix 04 with it for a few weeks in the summer to add some color. Would like to see a cool to neutral shade between 00 (or 02) and 04. Love this though. I just started trying Tarte products. So far I'm totally impressed! I have tried many natural cosmetic brands being an Aesthetician & product junkie. Smooth Operator is my favorite tinted moisturizer by far. I wear agent 06, since I have yellow undertones. It also covers up my slight redness. I have Combination, Sensitive, and Oily skin that is prone to breakouts. This doesn't break me out. I prefer this as my base over mineral powder foundation. I just use a little concealer (amazon clay) and set it with amazon clay finishing powder.
My skin looks flawless, smooth, and balanced. Lasts all day. I don't use a moisturizer underneath, just serums. I love the cheek stains too! Would you buy this product again? Yes

As far as tinted moisturizers go this is the MAC DADDY! No other TM that i've tried offers as much coverage as the tarte one. I set it which a mineral foundation on days when I want more coverage. Only caution is ppl w/oily/combo skin might need to set this w/a powder because it is very moisturizing. I love it. It last forever. I've had mine for over a year and I use it almost everyday. I wish the color selection was a little bit broader bcuz it does run very yellow and im a biege/yellow tone. but other than that I highly highly reccomend! Would you buy this product again? Yes

I absolutely LOVE this tinted moisturizer! It gives a nice dewy finish, without making my skin look oily (I have oily skin to begin with). And it lasts all day - I don't even feel like I need a primer with it. I bought agent 8 at the beginning of the summer, and now that I'm a little tanner, just grabbed agent 12. Love them both! This is the best tinted moisturizer I have ever used. Normally, a tinted moisturizer is not enough coverage for me, but a foundation is too heavy. This product is the perfect amount of coverage. My skin feels hydrated since using this and my breakouts have improved. I don't even feel like I'm wearing makeup. It lasts all day too. Great product! Would you buy this product again? Yes

this is my favorite tinted moisturizer of all time. it has the perfect amount of coverage, has a beautiful finish and matches my skin tone perfectly. i have the worst time finding a light color that is not too pink or yellow (i use agent 002). it is not heavy, doesn't burn your eyes or cause breakouts, blends wonderfully and has spf. and with all the added benefits of amazonian clay - i am completely sold on this. I love this product! I have a bad oil problem and this doesn't make me oily at all. I will use this instead of foundation. It gives me just enough color to brighten my face up and it also moisturizes my skin so that my skin isn't producing excess oil. I highly recommend this to anyone. Don't be afraid of picking a shade, I have 3 different colors I use and they all work nicely and don't leave any kind of streaking. Would you buy this product again? Yes

Great product. Evens out my skin nicely and I really like the coverage for a tinted moisturizer. It has a very nice texture. I do need concealer when I use this. I use the under eye (want a lighter color and a darker color) and the new amazonian clay calming concealer in the stick for post acne marks and pimples. I am acne prone and this is the first tinted moisturizer that I like. Like another reviewer said, love what is in it and love what isn't. I have oily skin and this adds moisture but does not make me oilier throughout the day. Great product. Like to mix it with the amazonian clay full coverage foundation in the winter. Use it year round but love it in the summer.
My only problem comes from my skin getting a touch darker in the summer. Agent 00 is a great match for me most of the year. Come summer I need something darker, but with the same pink undertones. I have to mix 00 with 08. I wish there were a pink undertone option between 00 and 08. 04 is a great shade, but too yellow on me. 06 and 08 are too dark. Mixing is tricky and easy to mess up. Hopefully I get better as the summer goes on. I never had to mix before, but am new to tarte. Would you buy this product again? Yes

Im light with yellow undertones. Skin matching is great but now that I have a tan it is too pink. so if I dont have a tan its great. Coverage is sheer but buildable and I love the glow that comes along afer a few minutes. I don't have much to cover except dark cirlces and a few blemishes but it covers very nicely. I don't like to use a heavy foundation in the summer, so a couple months ago I went to Sephora to get either a mineral powder foundation or a light tinted moisturizer. I had chosen another brand of tinted moisture, and when I went to check out, the sales associate suggested that I check out the Tarte Smooth Operator before I made my purchase. I not only liked the feel of Smooth Operator, I found that the color selection was better than what I was planning to purchase. I ended buying the Smooth Operator, and have been using it for a couple of months now. I goes on my face easily, and gives me just enough coverage to even out my complexion. I love it! I really like this tinted moisturizer! This, applied generously, with some cover-up where necessary and powder to finish, gives a great, perfect skin look without being cakey, too heavy and fake. I use this daily as my foundation (the actual tarte foundation was too heavy for me). The only reason I do not give a full 5 stars is because with continued use, I do get light pimples from it...but NOTHING compared to what would happen with other make-up. For a foundation, it is very good for acne-prone skin and I DO recommend it. Would you buy this product again? Yes

I've tried a few different tinted moisturizers from other brands and this one by Tarte is definitely the best! It has a smooth consistency that goes on really light and feels great on my skin. When it came to color matching, the tones in the bottle are actually pretty deceptive and I suggest trying them out before deciding on one. I ended up with a color that in the bottle looked way too light for me but was actually perfect. Also, the color and tone improve as it settles into your skin, making my skin look better and better throughout the day. It lasts literally all day, through work etc. I wear this on top of a regular moisturizer, but it does moisturize well. I'm Asian and my skin is pretty sensitive and prone to small breakouts, but so far Smooth Operator has actually improved my skin and hasn't made me break out at all. Perfect moisturizer! i really like this because i have suuuuuuuuuuper oily skin. Tinted moisturizers dont work for me AT ALL. but this one somehow, magically, did. i dont even know how, but it managed to stay on for quite a while without getting overly greasy and nasty on my face. so much better than any other tinted moisturizer ive used. really though this stuff is fabulous. This stuff is impressive: for a moisturizer it really works w/out any greasiness. I have oilly skin that breaks out pretty much all of the time. This stuff was enough coverage for me to not be embarrassed about my adult acne issues but not look like I made up my whole face to do something casual. For instance I wore it to ballet class where I sweat moderately and when I got home and looked in the mirror it didn't look like it moved anywhere: no sliding, no settling into expression lines. My face felt great with it on the whole time too: sometimes foundations liquid and powder will make my face itch or feel nasty when I sweat, but this one felt like my skin. I use this as a foundation rather than a tinted moisturizer, but I adore it. I find that I get a good amount of light/medium coverage, so there's no mask effect but everything looks even and smooth. I use a moisturizer and primer underneath and I find that smooth operator lasts, feels light on the skin, doesn't make my combination skin too oily or dry and the finish is nice and natural. THIS IS THE BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD!!!! I got this in a tester in a department store I tried it and and loved it. Big tip for better results is even though its a tinted moistureizer I still use my my original moistureizer under it. I love this product... I have redness all over my face and I use a foundation brush to apply it and it looks so natural and clear. I threw away all powders and foundations away and this is all I wear now. This tinted moisturizer is amazing! I'm so happy it has SPF 20. I used it with the Recreate primer, cheek stain, and the finishing powder on top. I still need concealer for the few blemishes I am combating, but I love how light and airy your face feels and you don't look like you have "makeup" on, just a really natural glow. I've been using this tinted moisturizer for 3 yrs. now and absolutely LOVE IT! The formula is so light weight, that you feel, you have nothing on your skin, yet there's coverage without looking made up. I would call it a natural look, clean look, a youthful look. I also feel like it has a calming affect on my skin/ soothing. Oh and best, it's okay to use around the eyes, it DOESN'T sting. I just ordered a few more products to give a try:

This is a pretty good tinted moisturizer. I purchased it in Agent 10 because Agent 6 didn't match my body (I'm a NC20~25 fyi) since my face is lighter. It's rather thick for a TM but that's what gives the nice coverage. You definitely still need a concealer if you don't have perfect skin; it IS a TM after all. The only thing I don't like is that it tends to settle around my nose crease area and it doesn't control much oil (not that it claims to do so) but I figured since this seems to be a newer formula with Amazonian Clay...I thought it might...maybe I'm just too oily? I have combination skin with slight eczema/rosacea problems on my cheeks. Would you buy this product again? Yes

I love this tinted moisturizer! Its very smooth like its name and lightweight. I live in South Texas and its pretty hot and humid through the year. This is my absolute "can't live without" product. This tinted moisturizer gives the most beautiful coverage, sheer yet flawless, and now that it is infused with the amazonian clay I love it even more than before! I have very oily skin, and heavy foundations get cakey and gross after a few hours, but this stays fresh looking all day. It's very long wearing, and it is waterproof! I love the shade selection, I use shade Agent 02 in the winter and Agent 04 in the summer. Both are a perfect match for my light skin tone... not too yellow and not too pink, the perfect neutral undertone! I switch back and forth with a lot of products but this is one thing that I never stray away from, this is my must have. For my more glamorous days I do set this with a powder foundation for a little extra polished coverage, and on my "natural" days I use the Amazonian Clay setting powder which is great too! When this is on alone, it gives a natural finish... not dewy not matte, just like normal skin. I love everything about this product. I highly recommend it! Would you buy this product again? Yes

I'm Asian w/medium complexion and I find that Agent 14 matches my complexion pretty well (I also use JM's tinted moisturizer in linen.) Although some reviewers consider this to be a foundation (and the description is light to medium coverage,) I would consider it to be a tinted moisturizer only. I'm strictly a liquid foundation girl, so I don't think the coverage is good enough alone. It does a decent job of evening out my skintone underneath Tarte's Clean Slate and makeup. Smooth Operator also feels light, so it's okay to add the layers to the face. As other reviewers have mentioned, it doesn't seem like moisturize it would be able to moisturize extremely dry skin. I love my Agent 06 (Veil) tinted moisturizer! It's much lighter than the ReCreate foundation, which is what I was looking for; but it provides excellent coverage, evens out my skin tone (redness around the nose), and feels like I'm not wearing any makeup at all. I'm about to turn 30 and I worshipped the sun most of my teen years and into my early 20's without much thought of what would happen to my skin as I aged. I tend to have lines under my eyes I wanted something that would make my face look younger, fresher, without looking like I was made up. This product is my answer! It works excellently over Serum and under Provocateur powder and/or under Finishing Powder. It lasts all day, doesn't run, and works well with my oily skin. No breakouts, just smooth skin at the end of the day. I was so impressed with how the color worked with my skin. It doesn't "match"...it blends, and it looks totally natural. Wow. I use this when going out, and it is just fabulous. Since using Burts Bees my skin has gotten so pretty without makeup I hate foundation! This is not the product to use if you want coverage. If you have perfect skin, this will probably work for you. If you have some things that you actually want to cover, try something else. I do love amazonian clay. It balances the skin. I am combination, leaning oily, and am break out prone. This hydrated the dry areas on my face and did not make me break out. This is my new favorite 'foundation!' I know you can't really call it a foundation, but it truly gives awesome coverage like a foundation would. I was really surprised. However, it doesn't cover up blemishes, so I would recommend a concealer to go along with it. I love the idea that it has SPF 20 in it, although I'd like a bit higher SPF. On the other hand, I haven't seen any other makeup or skincare brand that sells a tinted moisturizer with an SPF over 20. It may be the highest they can make it. Anywho, it's a wonderful product. I was really tired of using a pressed powder because I could see it on the little hairs on my face. This product blends with your skin color and makes it look as if it is truly your own. It is the most natural looking product I've ever used. My pressed powder was natural looking, too, but I could still see it on my face where this product just blends right in. Since, it started to get a bit better I decided to find a tinted moisturizer in place of the heavy foundation. I'm glad that I came across this product. I tried other TM's before but nothing works for me until I found Tarte's Smooth Operator. It offered a heavier coverage than other TM's. It is buildable so you can always add more on those troubled areas. i just place some concealer on my blemishes and I just top it off with Tarte's finishing powder and i'm good to go. I really like this. I was color matched in Sephora for Agent 12, and it's the perfect match for me. I have medium skin with beige undertones, and this is perfect. I ordered this directly from Tarte when it was 30% off. A little goes a long way. This covers really well, and is actually moisturizing without being greasy (unlike most tinted moisturizers). I was skeptical at first when I bought this product. I had given up hope on finding a non greasy tinted moisturizer that had more than sheer coverage. But this product is just that! And in addition, it has soothed and balanced my hopelessly sensitive skin because it has no irritating chemicals or fragrances. Okay, I bought this the same time I purchased the re-create primer. I used both, and found that this moisturizing tint disappears quickly. I was totally disappointed and was not a happy camper. For $36.00, it should have lasted a little longer. I know its supposed to be a tint moisturizer, but it should have some staying power to it. Tarte, you need to make it last just a little longer than two hours (which it lasted on my face.) I have oily skin, with a little sensitivity, so I was happy about this, but the proformance was lacking. Would you buy this product again? Yes

I like that this foundation/moisturizer doesn't clog my already VERY sensitive pores and that it is made from natural ingredients so I actually have an idea of what is going on to my face. I apply mine with my fingers (the tarte specialist at the Sephora store recommended that I do that, but when I have a bright red spot on my face, sometimes I need a little more (concealer) to keep it covered. I do apply a loose powder over the top just to finish the look, but overall I am pretty pleased with my Agent 04! Would you buy this product again? Yes

This is one of the very few (less than a handful) "foundations" that hasn't caused my skin breakouts or increased oil production and pore congestion, that stays put throughout the day, and that matches my very fair complexion. Since it's no longer marketed as a "foundation" but as a tinted moisturizer, I can't ask for full coverage, but I find that one "coat" along with concealer dabbed where it's needed and followed by the Amazonian clay micronized powder gives a very natural finish with medium to almost full coverage. A little goes a long way as well. This will definitely be a staple for me. Would you buy this product again? Yes

I've been using the different tinted powder type foundations because I don't like the heaviness of liquid foundation. But smooth operator is MUCH better! My complexion is more youthful and luminous, and it is protected with SPF 20. And it isn't causing any break-outs on my oily skin. Would you buy this product again? Yes

This works pretty well as a very light foundation to help even out the look of my skin. I was hoping to just use this as a moisturizer but it doesn't hydrate my skin very well. In order for me to use this product I have to apply my regular lotion, a foundation primer, then apply the Smooth Operator and dust my Tzone with powder. This tinted moisturizer is pretty shimmery and makes my face look rather oily, even though I apply on top of a mattifying primer and apply powder to my Tzone. It's great for those days when I just need to run errands and don't feel like using my usual foundation. Plus, I wanted to try something a little healthier for my skin. I would like this product much, much better if it were available as a matte finish. Due to the price, the fact that I can't use the product as it is intended/marketed (moisturizer) and because it leaves my face looking oily (even though it doesn't make me feel all that greasy) I will not be buying this again. However, like I stated above, if this product is launched with a matte finish I will definitely try it.
As a side note, I saw in another review that someone stated it made her skin look darker. I did have this problem, initially. I have found that a little bit of this goes a long way and a bit too much applied will definitely make your face look darker than the rest fo your body. Also, I noticed if you are having some skin irritation/redness, applying this even in a small/normal amount will cause your face to darken. I haven't had problems blending, even around the hairline, as I've read in other reviews - perhaps that's because I use this on top of a primer. I hope this helps. I just love this stuff...I've spent the last two years using a different tinted moisturizer but came back to this. The finish is sheer enough to look natural while still giving enough coverage. It creates a smooth, even complexion that's perfect for daytime. I love having the added SPF but without parabens. And honestly, at the end of the day when I wash it off my skin feels softer, like I've really been taking care of it all day long...can't beat that :)

I'm a full coverage foundation kind of girl, so I need to hide some things. The problem with most full coverage foundations is that it looks like you have a layer on your face, and sometimes it even draws attention to your problem areas. Since I love Tarte, I thought I'd be brave and try this product. I knew it wasn't a heavy duty foundation, but I felt my face could seriously use a break. I'm sooo happy I bought Smooth Operator. I don't know why, but the lighter coverage looks better on me. I'm able to even out my skintone and cover minor imperfections with a product that not only has good skincare incredients, but completely looks like my skin. I can't stop looking at myself....I actually look like me in the mirror, not some covered up mask that sort of resembles me. The only reason I didn't give it a perfect 5 stars is that the shade range could go a smidge lighter. I can use Agent 02 comfortably (I'm pale with yellow undertones), but it borders on being too dark if I try to add a little more to my cheeks. All in all, a wonderful product that I will definitely repurchase. Would you buy this product again? Yes

I like this but it is not a good product for me. I am looking for all natural make up. While it says it is a Tinted Moisturizer, it feels heavy, heavier than the Laura Mercier TM that I had been using but does give a much better coverage (medium at least) product, and feels like foundation to me.
I have older dry skin. If suppose if you have oily skin this would work very well. My skin looked a bit dull using this not moist dewy or radiant.
I ended up going from a Tinted Moisturizer (Laura Mercier for the past 8 yrs) back to a foundation (suprise). The LancomeTeint Miracle is so feather light, it is much lighter than anything I have tried, a tad covers your face and it feels like a second skin. This is a better option for us older gals that need less and have dry skin Would you buy this product again? Yes

I haven't used a liquid makeup on my skin in over 5 years, so I was a little weary to try it, but have noticed that the powder foundations are starting to settle into my laugh lines around my eyes (I can admit I'm in my 30's and have loved the sun since I can remember). I guessed and got Agent 14 and recieved it today. I tried it immediately and oh my gosh! Exactly what I was hoping it would be like! This is a great tinted moisturizer, but there is no option for fair skin with pink undertones and so it tends to look a bit yellow on my skin....the lightest option with pink undertones does not seem to be designated for fair skin, so would probably be too dark. The coverage is just enough and it goes on sheer - I just wish there was an option that was right for me...not sure why this wasn't developed as a lot of people with fair skin have pink undertones? Acne scarring has always been a main issue for me, and I usually resort to heavy coverage foundation, concealer, and topped it off with a powder foundation. With the products I was using, I would usually get this cakey effect, which wasn't very attractive. I really didn't care, as long as I got the acne scarring covered. After getting to know tarte, I decided to check out their foundations and picked up this one: the tinted moisturizer. I honestly would have never thought I could pull off a tinted moisturizer. This really evened out my skintone, and made it look incredibly natural. I also did use the tarte eraser concealer. This duo perfected my skin! I really couldn't believe it. It feels incredibly light, and by the end of the day, my face doesn't look chalky or muddy. It looks absolutely perfect! I bought this product in Ulta after I found that the lightest Smashbox foundation shade was too light for me. This product is amazing and gives you a sheer to medium coverage so it's like a foundation but very light. I really like this product. I have very sensitive skin and noticed that when I used regular drug-store tinted moisturizer that wasn't organic, my skin began breaking out like I was 13. As soon as I switched and began using this product, the acne cleared up (just goes to show you that organic doesn't only apply to the food you eat).

But once I tried this one on I was sold. It is more coverage than your normal tinted moisturizer and I would say sheer to medium. However the coverage is so natural and very light. When I first bought this tinted moisturizer, I was concerned about the small size of the packaging. However, this product actually last a surprisingly decent amount of time (8 months) and I really am able to get every last drop. I looooove it! My face is super sensitive to anything and everything, but it has never looked better since using this stuff. I have recommended it to many of my friends. This is the BEST tinted moisturizer I have ever used! It goes on flawlessly, is not greasy, stays on all day, and the color is perfect for my skin. Plus it has the added bonus of an SPF 20 and NO parabens! I have tried numerous tinted mositurizers over the years and was always disappointed. I could not be without Tarte Smooth Operator. (I have two reserve tubes so I don't ever run out.) I have always worn foundation (over 45) and now I no longer need to use foundation. I'm amazed. I ran out of my apartment last week (running late for a flight to Boston) and realized @ the airport that I'd forgotten my make-up bag. No fear - my travel buddy wears much of the same products that I do. However, she doesn't wear my foundation. Bummer. What she does wear is this tinted moisturizer. 3 days later I was smitten. The color was a *bit* to pale for me (She uses the Agent 06 and I suspect that I'm Agent 08) but otherwise it's fantastic. Great formulation and just the right amount of coverage. Someone above commented that it's more of a light coverage foundation and I agree. I don't need alot of coverage - I usually apply my foundation (ReCreate) very minimally.
I'd prefer if the SPF were higher, but I use a higher SPF moisturizer under it. Once again, Tarte get it's right :-) Would you buy this product again? Yes

This tinted moisturizer works for my day offs. Love how it has SPF 20, gives light coverage and blends really well. I do have a preference how it is applied, first I apply ReCreate primer before I apply the Smooth Operator then I apply the cheek stain. I love how natural it looks (not so made up). The only things i dislike about the product is that I have dry skin especially over the winter and it doesn't help much with the moisturizing unlike my usual moisturizer-my skin gets itchy...then on not so cold days, I find my skin looking all shiny so would have to do a quick sweep with powder. I commented earlier that the color darkens over the day, but it was just a result of my natural skin color showing through by the end of the day (it had gotten darker after some sunny days). I fixed the problem by adding a primer underneath so the product stayed on my oil rig of a face. I also bought another one in two shades darker, and if I mix the colors together, it seems to be a better match compared with one or the other by itself. Also perfect for mixing in different proportions as the seasons and my skin color change, since my face does reach both color extremes. The color match works fine for me, both yellow and beige undertones (conceal 10 - natural 14 range).
I also decided to write a new review because I found more reasons I love this product:
#1) I can layer it two or three times for dance performances and it still blends so perfectly, not to mention lasts through bright lights/ sweat! In this case I only use the darker color (lights already wash you out enough).
#2) I apply it with my fingers like a moisturizer for days when I'm lazy (most days), and it still looks beautiful and only takes 30 seconds.
#3) The compatibility with dark circle defense is amazing. I use dark circle defense everywhere (I own it in both colors!), and they blend and match very well.
The biggest reason I will always rebuy: #4) Consistently sleeping in it (I know it's bad, but I have late days) has not made me break out!!! Would you buy this product again? Yes

I loved my first bottle of smooth operator so much, I went and bought a second one with a slightly darker tone for summer. I used to wear a lot of makeup in high school and college, but as I transitioned into my mid-20's, I felt like it was time to give my skin some much needed break. My skin also changed from being oily and acne prone to combination oily/dry and not so acne prone. I was interested in getting a BB cream (blemish balm cream) since it has been really popular in Asia as a makeup and skin treatment in one but because they weren't all natural and the really good bb creams are difficult to buy in the US, I found the Smooth Operator and decided to give it a try.

I gave this product some time before I made my final decision. I like it in that it lacks all the bad ingredients found in 99% percent of other tinted moisturizers. I have Agent 8 and the color is not a perfect match but it works well enough. It does a good job at evening out my complexion and gives me a nice natural look. The only thing I dislike is that 90% of my time spent putting it on I'm blending it into my hairline. It loses only 1 star for not being easy to blend. This blends beautifully with my skin. It feels more like a moisturizer than anything else, so it is light but covers redness. I like it for the days i don't feel like doing my make-up, which is most of the time. The price is a bit steep, but it's all about the quality, and tarte knows how to do it right. I've had a hard time finding the right color match for my skin. I'm somewhere between medium and light and I've finally found the right product! I love that it's cruelty-free with tons of good stuff packed in it to benefit my skin. It doesn't feel heavy at all, which I love because I have such oily skin. I used to use a mineral powder make-up which, for me, seemed to just sit on my skin, soak up oil and make my skin look dull. I'd end up using more powder and same thing. With this product my skin stays shine free and it stays put! I get my moisture without all of the oiliness and constantly having to re-apply. Would you buy this product again? Yes

I love Smooth Operator! This gives beautiful sheer coverage, is super long wearing and stays on all day, and even holds up against my oily skin! I've tried several tinted moisturizers, and this is more of a tinted moisturizer and foundation all in one, which I love! I wear this in shade "Agent 02/Facade" and its a perfect match for my fair, neutral undertone skin! I'm very happy with this! im really liking this product it stays on for quite a while even in a lot of heat and it is great for dry skin, i can actually skip my regular moisturizer with this product. the pigmentation is quite close to a foundation and it is buildable so it covers some flaws you might have on your face. im running out so im definitely going to buy some more soon! Even though this is a tinted moisturizer I still wear it on top of my regular Acne Moisturizer from Clinique as I have a lot of scars and am acne-prone; with that in mind it never feels heavy on my face and I LOVE that theres SPF! It really covers the scars and under eye area well and doesn't clog my pores! Unlike a previous reviewer I do NOT find that it darkens throughout the day. It's really helpful to know which exact shade you are as you can always go on Facebook to ask the Tarte staff on compatibility with other items so please seek your local Tarte retailer! My friend Cynthia is slightly darker than I am and its formula is so interesting that it can still match her! It's an absolute staple! Would you buy this product again? Yes

This is a nice, lightweight tinted moisturizer that feels great on the skin! Light- medium coverage and I love that the sunscreen used is Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, both rated as safe sunscreens by the Environmental Working Group. This is a great tinted moisturizer and I have tried many! Would you buy this product again? Yes
Just the right amount of coverage to be better than bare but not look "made up". Especially good in warmer weather when you don't want too many powdered layers. Would you buy this product again? Yes

For a girl with acne scars and frequent breakouts, this stuff works really well to even out skin tone. After primer, I spread a THIN layer of Smooth Operator on with my fingers, cover my spots with a little 4-in-1 eraser concealer, and set the spots with a dab more Smooth Operator with my ring finger and sweep a light dusting of provocateur powder over my oily areas. It stays on ALL DAY! In fact it stays on so well that I need to really wash my face to get it all off, but the great thing is it's never broken me out whenever I've ever slept in it!
My one caveat for a buyer is that it goes on fairly light but darkens over the day (or it may be the provocateur powder, but unfortunately I've never worn the powder alone to find this out). I wear Agent 10 because of this fact, but my natural skin tone is closer to a 12. SPF 20 is great for me. Lastly, my friend asked if I was wearing any makeup when I had it on, and she knows I always wear foundation. That's how natural it looked! Great product, Tarte! Would you buy this product again? Yes

Goes on like a tinted moisturizer but covers like a light foundation. Best of both worlds. This has replaced my HG foundation. Love how natural the ingredients are too, and that it feels like I'm not wearing a foundation. This a great lighter coverage foundation. It just also happens to moisturize. Usually a tinted moisturizer implies sheer if any coverage at all. I was glad to see this was more of a lighter coverage foundation. It goes on smooth and your skin feels smooth as well. Love it, and the color selection. Would you buy this product again? Yes

Awesome tinted moisturizer- perfect for people who need to even out skin tone a little, but don't want the weight of a foundation. I find that this provides the perfect amount of coverage. SPF 20 isn't quite enough for me, but I pair it with a very light weight sunblock and I'm good to go. Would you buy this product again? Yes
