And yes, thanks to our senior designer Erica, those cupcakes do match her dress! (Erica, über talented with confections, really knows how to pin down a person’s aesthetic with cake!)
Happy b-day B!
Happy leap year tartelettes, and welcome to February!
If you’re anything like us, you know there’s nothing better than free time. We’ve decided to make the most of 2012’s extra day by spending the next 29 days focusing on what makes tarte tick: powerful, pure products and YOU: our passionate tartelettes.
Yes, you are just as important as our ingredients and innovations!
We love hearing your feedback and ideas. So this leap year we’re launching our ‘#tweets4tarte’ campaign, 29 ideas in 29 days.
The campaign is simple, we’re putting you in the creative driver’s seat. We’ll post a question about makeup, ingredients, design and many other topics on twitter and you answer it with gloves off honestly. Tell us what you really think about what we’re doing and what we should be doing — help us give YOU what YOU want.
Please read our terms & conditions.
We launched our Pinterest account only 4 weeks ago. Shortly after, we hosted our first Pinterest sweepstakes: “pinning” on the glitz with tarte! We knew we were on to something when we were flooded with submissions within the first few hours after the contest went live.
We’ve thoroughly enjoyed looking at your submissions over the past few weeks. We love the creativity and enthusiasm you put into designing your ideal New Year’s Eve through images. From sparkly high heels and bombshell lashes to sleek trousers and elegant champagne flutes, we loved the unique style of each board.
Luckily, winners were chosen at random – we don’t think we could have narrowed it down to just ten winners based on merit alone – and we’re pleased to announce them!
Congratulations to our ten “pinning” on the glitz with tarte sweepstakes winners:
Angelique F., from Montara, CA
Hannah C., from Green Cove Springs, FL
Karen A., from South Milwaukee, WI
Saarah S., from Playa Del Rey, CA
Courtney C., from Matthews, NC
Tiffany J., from Cuyahoga Falls, OH
Stephanie W. from El Dorado Hills, CA
Chelsea B., from Eugene, OR
Tasia W., Winston Salem, NC
Sara B., from Palmdale, CA
Thanks for playing tartelettes!
Is 2012 really only a few days away?
It seems like this new year really snuck up on us, so we decided to take a few minutes and make some resolutions.
From eating right, to putting a moratorium on Diet Coke, each one of us has a goal for the next year — maybe seeing them in print will help us achieve them!
“I resolve to live every minute like it’s my last and STOP sweating the small stuff!”
-Maureen Kelly, tarte Founder and CEO
“My resolution is to seriously dial down my daily coffee intake. I could never forego my morning cup, but whenever I feel like I need an energy boost, I’m going to take a brisk walk around the block!”
“I’m hoping to travel more in the New Year! There are just so many places to see!”
-Candace, Director of Communications & Market Strategy
“As recently advised by a friendly source, my New Year’s resolution is to take a breather and be more patient.”
-Heather, Executive Director, Product Development
“I resolve to exercise more. There’s nothing like the energy from a morning workout…so I’ll be setting my alarm clock and hitting the gym!”
-Staci, Integrated Marketing & E-Commerce Specialist
“Next year I’m going to revamp my diet…less Skittles, more veggies.”
-Jess, Public Relations & Artistry Relations Manager
“I resolve to pay more attention to my budget this year, like painting my nails instead of getting manis!”
-Kate, Public Relations Coordinator
“As a coffee junkie, I resolve to make it myself rather than having a barista do it for me!”
-Amanda, Project Manager
“My resolution this year is to drink more water and get back in shape. I’m determined to be able to do a 5K in under 25 minutes again!”
-Bianca, Graphic Designer
“To stop worrying about the small stuff — and to recognize what is small!”
-Celeste, Retail Operations Associate
“My resolution is to finish decorating my apartment. I moved in August — there’s no excuse for going seven months without a couch!”
-Rachel, Operations Coordinator
“To drink more water…instead of Diet Coke.”
-Kim, Accounting Analyst
“My New Year’s resolution is to actually use the kickboxing gym membership I bought months ago.”
-Melanie, Product Development Coordinator
“I resolve to cook at least one meal each week. I have a kitchen in my apartment — it’s about time I used it!”
-Koryn, Community Manager
“Travel more! Get out – see the world.”
-Jen, Customer Service Representative & Contributing tarte talk Editor

This past weekend the tarte team participated in Super Saturday 14, a one-of-a-kind designer sample sale, where all the proceeds go to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF). In addition to having a booth, Maureen Kelly appeared on QVC live from the event raising even more awareness. Even better all net proceeds from her show benefited OCRF! Despite the hot weather, our makeup stayed meltproof. We even had a few minutes to do a little shopping ourselves—all in the name of charity! We picked up an Alex Woo necklace, Alice + Olivia silk green pants, Brooks Brothers’ shirts and lots more! Check out our pictures below and find out how you can get involved here: http://www.ocrf.org/index.php
Yesterday, I had the honor of presenting to a really fantastic group of young ladies at FashionCampNYC. To give you some more insight on the program, it’s a five-day camp experience, where experts, designers, product developers, stylists, bloggers, editors, publicists (me!), retailers and other fashion & beauty professionals educate budding teens between the ages 12 to 18. The program explores the “business” of fashion and beauty, teaching teens how to turn their passion into a lucrative profession.
During my session, I explained the role of PR in the beauty industry. As part of my presentation, I offered background on tarte and then explained my PR position with the help of some props! I distributed magazines (i.e. Seventeen) where tarte was featured and discussed some of our coveted beauty awards. I also explained the importance of a press kit, which includes a bio about the company, celebrity fans and other informative information. These young ladies are really a passionate group—I hope I taught them a thing or two (i.e. listen up in your English and writing classes)! I’m really so excited about these future industry professionals. We’re in good hands!
I can’t wait to do it all over again on 8/2—it felt good to pay it forward. How are you giving back to the community?
This holiday season we’re hosting our first live Twitter party! Join us along with co-hosts Celebutante Sisters, GalTime.com and The Daily Buzz on December 8th, 9-11pm EST for a night of beauty tips, tricks and fabulous tarte holiday prizes! We will be tweeting using the hashtag #tarteparty (don’t forget to use it with all tweets!). Share with your friends & family—we have an interactive night of beauty fun planned! We hope to see you online!
Be sure to R.S.V.P early on GalTime.com to enter to win our coveted “the jewelry box” holiday palette!
It was Hollywood’s biggest night & this self-proclaimed fashion junkie nearly had a meltdown when channel 7 vanished right before my eyes. The mere thought of missing Barbara Walters’ Special, the Red Carpet & main event was the trifecta of nightmares (a special thanks to E! for keeping me sane). After hunting (for what seemed like an eternity) for an online live stream (with no luck) someone came to their senses and ABC was back—I think fireworks went off in my living room.
As I settled down in sheer bliss to see my favorite stars strut their stuff, I started my critique…love it, hate it! I’ll share my favorite dress trend in my next post so please stay tuned, but I wanted to first talk about the beauty looks. Let’s face it; these girls would look gorgeous even if they were wearing paper bags. Two refreshing red carpet trends: natural, dewey makeup and pop color pouts.
My favorite creamy & flawless faces were Anna Kendrick, Amanda Seyfried and Zoe Saldana. There’s no better look for these young ladies than radiant skin that reveals their natural beauty. Don’t mean to brag, but Anna was rocking some of my favorite tarte products. After makeup artist Sara Glick prepped her with Arcona’s Magic White Ice hydrating gel, she then topped Anna’s cheeks with tarte’s natural cheek stain in eco-cheek for the perfect flush. For her pretty pink pout, she used a combo of LipSurgence™ natural gel lip stain in charmed & double-ended lipgloss in jake & samantha to enhance her perfect smile! We loved it…your thoughts?
I love a neutral face, but I also admire a pop color pout. Red, Coral, Fuschia whatever your pick—I love them all. I have been experimenting with this look for a few months now (ever since I had our first LipSurgence™ samples in my hand) and I think it’s best paired with a subtle eye (I like lock & roll in rose gold & a thin cat eye with indelible wink liner in black). It’s important to keep the concentration on the lips and play down the rest; this is the Oscar’s not an 80’s concert. Most importantly, when playing with colors have fun & be confident! My go-to lippies for this are tarte’s LipSurgence™ lip stains in amused and lust. Be honest, would you try this?
Stay tuned for more Oscar coverage
