Nails could be nature’s best accessory. Unlike a haircut or a new outfit, they offer an easy way to jump on a trend or make a statement without committing too much – all for under ten bucks. Be wild in neon, ladylike in neutral, or vampy in black as quickly as your mood changes. Now, with the recent trend of serious nail polish and art, your choices are more varied than ever. As with any accessory, with the seasons so go the trends; here are the nail looks we’ll be rocking this fall. More >
It’s official, it’s September, Fashion Week is over and earth tones are back on the trend menue. That’s why we had to take a snapshot of our digital marketing manager’s chic nude nail polish. Jenna boldly paired this über fall hue, lady like by essie, with a stunning pair of tweed trousers making us long for autumn. Plus that splash of sparkle on her ring finger makes this is one near-perfect mani! Hey, why the ring finger Jenna? Wishing and hoping…?
What laquer are you rocking?
It’s been a while since we saluted the stunning nail art that walks through the doors of the tarte office, and when we saw this lovely design — hand painted by our senior graphic designer Erica — we knew it deserved some fanfare.
What kind of polish are you rocking this summer?
If you’ve ever read this blog, you already know Jen. And if you’ve ever called our customer service line, you’ve probably spoken to her. One of the most versatile members of the tarte team, Jen’s duties are so numerous we don’t have enough space to list them. Let’s just say she’s an important part of what makes tarte tick. So we decided to find out what make her tick — at least while she’s at work.
1. My Keep Calm and Carry On mug: “It was a gift from tarte’s community manager Koryn.”
2. Figi Water: “Hydration is key, especially during an NYC heat wave.”
3. tarte dollface cheek stain: “This is my all time favorite blush shade!”
4. BB Pretzel sticks: “Super thin pretzels and only 25 calories in the entire bag — talk about guilt free.”
5. tarte mini maracuja oil: “Great for travel! I put it on my face and cuticles when I need some moisture.”
6. Photos of friends and co-workers: “Especially in black and white…it looks so chic.”
7. Nail polish: “My nails are constantly chipping and I always need to fix them up.”
8. The tarte mission statement: “This makes me extremely proud of where I work and what we stand for.”
9. My mustaches card: “A customer included this with their return and it made me so happy!”
10. My Charlotte Free screen saver: “Pink hair, don’t care! I wish I could do this to mine but Maureen would kill me!”
Neon is the trend right now, and with never-ending gloom in the air this winter, I’m thankful for it! It’s a trend that’s bold, cheery and reminds me that, yes, there is always a bright side. When I saw Sylvie, our VP of marketing, sporting this neon varnish – Hot Pop Pink by CND — and bright yellow blouse, I had to take a snap.
Who else is rocking neon nails?
It’s pouring rain in NYC, and I thought Bianca, tarte’s graphic designer, was rocking nails that totally captured the gloomy, city mood. A little bit goth, a little bit flash — she layered OPI’s silver shatter over a sleek noir shade called black lingerie. And yes, that is Kate Moss’s face in the background.
What polish are you sporting today?
What’s not to love about butter London nail polish? A 3 Free company, their products are formulated without Formaldehyde, Toluene and DBP, plus they feature some serious rock star colors. The shade above is called Slapper — part of their summer 2012 collection – an incredibly versatile and fun polish that can liven up any outfit. To cheer up a gloomy and rainy Wednesday, our customer service rep Jen decided to slap on a coat (pun intended), and things are already looking brighter.
February is the heart of winter, dark and cold but tinged with the knowledge that spring is just around the corner. Our polish choice: OPI’s Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees. A mysterious mix of purple, grey and blue, this color has just enough edge to get you through the winter.
Lately I’ve been obsessed with Kaia House’s amazing eco friendly nail polishes. The brand offers beautiful shades that suite any style. Say goodbye to those harsh chemicals, because Kaia Houses’ organic Bio-Polishes, just like your favorite tarte cosmetics, are free of phthalates, toluene and formaldehyde — even celebs like Rachel Bilson and Jessica Alba have become devotees. Swing by their site and while you’re there be sure to snag a bottle of the soy nail polish remover they offer, it’s free of pegs, parabens, phthalates and formaldehyde too!
Organic eco-nail polishes in chic shades right at our fingertips, what more could a girl ask for?
Ok, ladies: let’s do this together. Slide off the Uggs. Roll down the socks. Now breathe. A quick pedicure and no one will ever see those chips and flakes from last winter’s hottest shade! Eco-friendly brands such as Zoya, Butter London and my favorite vegan brand, Ginger + Liz have come to our rescue with fresh, new shades that allow us to step into summer looking bold and beautiful. Go wild with a hot new neon shade or beach it up with a gorgeous earth tone. The world is at your fingertips…or your toes.
What summer polish shade is your favorite?! Pics and comments please. J
