I am really pleased with this foundation. I have eczema and was not sure it would be moisturizing enough but I love it! I use it with Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturizer and a coat of "clear" zinc SPF 50 and it blends and sets perfectly. I apply it once the moisturizer and sunscreen are dry and set with the foundation brush that is sold with it as a set. I can walk my dog (walk her twice a day an hr a session and sometimes longer) and sweat without it smudging or smearing. It allows my skin to sweat by allowing the sweat to come through the layer, and still, it does not budge. The same goes for the Power Flex concealer. It is light weight and just feels silky. The humidity and sweat really don't make a difference to how long and how it wears.

Lovely finish!
I gave this a try and was pleasantly surprised. I have dry skin, and this leaves a beautiful finish on my skin. It provides decent coverage without looking heavy. It does settle into fine lines a bit, but not enough to bother me. Because I have dry skin, I prefer to apply foundations with a damp sponge rather than a brush. The consistency of this product is a thin liquid, and the sponge unfortunately soaks up quite a lot of it, more than the average foundation. Though it does have some downsides, overall I am really pleased with how this foundation works for my skin type!

NOT a heavy foundation
I've been using this for about a year now and I sincerely love it. Lockdown put the nail in the coffin for heavy makeup for me so I traded the Amazonian clay foundation for this instead. It's really light and easy to apply and does just enough to even out skin texture and give a little oomph without being heavy. I mix it with my CC cream so that I have SPF included too and it's just perfect for a non-fussy natural look. This is NOT "going out on the town" foundation. This is low-maintenance, "mom-has-five minutes-to-look-awake" makeup. Oh, and remember to shake before you use it.

Nailed the rosy undertones!
It has been so hard finding a brand that can match my skin tone perfectly. I have light to medium(more so in the summer) with a rosy undertone. I have combination skin, fine lines, large pores and acne scars. Maybelline Fit Me creamy beige has been the only foundation to match my skin perfectly until now! 20B looks identical to my own skin! I wouldn't consider this medium coverage, more like a tinted moisturizer but I love it. Settles a bit in the lines but since it's light coverage, it's nowhere noticeable like other foundations. It is buildable but still wouldn't say it gets to a medium build. More very light to light build.
It does transfer with and without a setting powder+spray but due to my oily skin, this happens with EVERY brand for me. Overall, I love how it's lightweight, freshens my skin and match beautifully. So, if you are looking for a tinted moisturizer, try this brand!

Doesn't compare to rainforest of the sea foundation
I bought this foundation in light beige because my sea water foundation no longer has my winter shade.
Pros:
I don't mind the liquidy texture, and it does go on quite smooth at first
Cons: looks extremely dry after a couple hours even though i let my moisturizer sink into my skin while i do my eyes before foundation.
By the8 hour mark the foundation is gone from my face.
Doesn't feel as skin like as the sea water foundation.
All in all the sea water foundation was a better formula that made my skin look like skin but better and was undetectable and lasted all day long.

I don't hate it but I wished I bought small trial size instead
What I liked: cute packaging, very light texture, didn't break me out, blends very easily and didn't crease as much. What disappointed me: didn't hide any pores as claimed, didn't last me even 4-6 hours (combo-oily skin but in cold dry Canadian winter). It's cold and I haven't been sweating, but I can see the foundation has faded on a lot of areas on my cheeks and nose. I avoided touching my face so I know I didn't rub it off. The coverage is about light to medium at best and it didn't cover my redness long enough either. Tarte website says to use a few drops, but in their video, that's at least 10 drops drizzled on for just half of the face. So, no, it didn't help pores, not waterproof/sweatproof, not very buildable, and didn't last 12 hours. Also, as the day goes on, texture on the skin becomes more obvious. It gives nice hydration though and is quite natural. I think it might be better suited for someone who has dry skin looking for natural coverage.

Not impressed
Reluctantly bought this after finding out that the sea foundation that I love was being discontinued and this seemed to be the most similar option. It’s nothing close to the sea foundation. The coverage isn’t great at all and it doesn’t build well. It’s VERY runny and feels oily once applied. It just seems to sit on my face and when trying to blend it in it just rubs off instead. Also don’t love that this has a serum in it, I want my foundation and skin care separate. Overall super disappointed in this product and that Tarte has discontinued the one foundation I truly loved. Guess I’ll be forced to try a new brand all together now.

Amazing, LIGHTWEIGHT, even coverage
I bought this on a whim to try. I am 44 and my skin doesn't do well with thick foundation and I don't want FULL coverage. I was hoping this would be light enough for my liking (just wear foundation 2-3 times a week, if that) but still cover well. IT DOES!! Worked fabulously on my skin and my daughter loved it too. She usually uses full coverage due to some acne and scarring but she LOVES this because it covers AND is light. I know some have said it doesn't compare to the water foundation Tarte previously had, but I never tried that so I have no comparison. I'd say give it a chance!!

Don’t waste your money!
This foundation is awful. It is not nearly as good as the previous Sea foundation in the glass bottle. It’s watery, does not cover well & it broke my face out. For someone with sensitive skin this is now the third foundation I have had to switch to because Tarte keeps discontinuing the ones that I use & like. Frustrating!!!

does NOT compare to water foundation
DOES NOT COMPARE to water foundation. So, so, so sad water foundation was discontinued. I was shade 12n- 12n in hydro flex IS NOT the same. Please bring back the water foundation. It was the perfect foundation. I wish there would have been a warning that it was going to be discontinued. This absolutely does not compare and the color shades are off. Do not purchase.

great lightweight every day foundation
I bought the trial size out of curiousity. I worked with shade matching apps and most pick my shade as more beige and one shade darker (around a 20N or 22N) than my natural color (14N or 16N). It's so frustrating to have this happen because I don't like to load on/buff out so much thick looking product and dark ones like the influencers on IG. I use a lot of Korean skincare products and I was pleasantly surprised to see this has it's roots in Korean cosmetics. I've been noticing that my Makeup Forever HD foundation (r230) pills with my sunscreen and skincare products, this foundation didn't. I even love the concealer, which is lighter than shape-tape and doesn't crease. I like this foundation better than my Sulwhasoo perfecting cushion (shade 21). That brand feels oily at times and sweats off (if I don't set it with powder properly, this is a must with most traditional Korean foundations). Your foundation gives me a dewy, glowy finish, I don't have to use blotting paper or powders. I used Neogen setting spray, which played well together. The hyaluronic acid didn't seem to dry my skin out (it sometimes has that effect because of dry heat indoors). The primer has a cooling,hydrating effect as well, and didn't seem to load up in and irritate my pores. I'm going to purchase the full size very soon! It's exciting to find something that works well for me and doesn't take an expert hand or a long time to apply well....thank you so much!!

Not comparable to the water foundation
When I asked customer service which foundation could replace my water foundation (which I LOVE), tarte told me this one. That is not true. No spf, watery, horrible. I tried to ask additional questions via chat but the customer service rep just stopped responding after I shared disappointment that the water foundation was no longer available. Great customer service there, tarte.
Read the reviews. Bring back the water foundation. I do not understand why you would discontinue a best seller. When you find a foundation that actually works for you, its is incredibly frustrating to have it just disappear and offer a replacement that doesn't even come close to what it's replacing. Sephora was able to help me find a product that is *actually* comparable to the water foundation, so I'll be buying that from now on I guess.

For some reason I expected this to be more of a tinted moisturizer but it actually has really good coverage. I think it's a medium-buildable. It covers all of my redness and sunspots but isn't at all cakey. My skin looks natural and flawless.

The sea serum not only is good for both but it also has a refreshing feel and it feels better light on your skin.

Does this foundation work well on its own or does it need a primer?

BEST ANSWER: It works well on its own for me but, since the coverage is so light, it doesn't hide imperfections very well - so if you have enlarged pores, etc. that you would like to blur, i would recommend using a primer underneath. I've never had any issues with the foundation staying on or staying in place without a primer though.

it's very very light and liquidy so I would think you'll be okay without primer. The finish is quite dewy, and it might feel like too much stuff on your face if you primed on top of moisturizer with this product.

No primer needed! I have never used primer with this product and I’m on my second bottle. It’s coverage is amazing but it’s lightweight and sheer enough for that my skin but better look.

BEST ANSWER: I wouldn’t necessarily say watery, but it’s definitely a very thin, liquidy substance. Still covers quite well! Just be careful when squeezing 😂

I’ve worn this all day and it holds up better than any other foundation I’ve tried. It doesn’t settle in ceases or fine lines. Just make sure to use a setting powder to help increase its staying power.
