“Debra said she wanted knock-em-dead eyes. She wanted a super smoky dramatic look, so we made it all about glamorous eyes, and accentuated them with a shiny, natural nude gloss on the lips.” – Jeannia Robinette, celebrity makeup artist
- To begin, Jeannia used tarte’s Amazonian clay 12-hour full coverage foundation with Broad Spectrum SPF 15, applied with tarte’s new airbrush finish bamboo foundation brush.
- She added a touch of sheen with tarte’s new maracuja blush & glow brightening luminizer and cheek tint in candlelight on the tops of her cheekbones and around her temples
- She then used Amazonian clay bronzer in park ave princess to contour the hollows of her cheeks.
- To make her cheekbones pop, she used tarte’s new Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in buff a warm nude with a touch of shimmer, on the apples of her cheeks and along her cheekbones.
- She lined the inner rims of the eyes with tarte’s emphasEYES™ high-definition inner rim eyeliner black pencil
- Then she smudged smolderEYES Amazonian clay waterproof liner in golden black along the lash line, followed by smolderEYES Amazonian clay waterproof liner in olive, which added the perfect hint of green to complement her earrings.
- She followed by tapping on Amazonian clay cream shadow in shimmering moss to set the look and strike the perfect balance of black and green.
- For loads of volume and dramatic separation on her upper lashes, Jeannia used two coats of tarte’s light, camera, lashes! clinically-proven mascara, which made her eyes pop.
tartelettes, tonight’s Golden Globes has us all geared up for awards season. Of course, we love a good film, but we’re really waiting to see some serious fashion — when else can you find so many amazing dresses packed onto the red carpet? From the SAG awards to BAFTA, and finishing off with the Oscars at the end of February, it’s like a two-month marathon of evening-gown gorgeousness.
Come to think of it, this awards season’s glamour really started within the films nominated — with so many romantic period pieces on the ballot, we’ve been having as much fashion fun watching the movies as we usually do the red carpet.
Midnight in Paris, in which Owen Wilson is shuffled between today and the 1920s, kicked things off with a wardrobe of sublime French chic — from both our era and the jazz age. Modern-day Rachel McAdams stole every scene with her perfect travel wardrobe: a collection of airy shirt-dresses, silk blouses, comfy wedges, and statement jewelery that succeeded in looking effortlessly put-together every time. Marion Cotillard’s vintage flapper look – all shimmer, beading, and red lipstick – was equally enchanting. Tres jolie.
Of course, My Week with Marilyn was a decadent display of fifties’ fashion, with a bodacious Michelle Williams stitched into curve-hugging gowns and coquettish sweaters. Bye-bye, aviators and motorcycle boots: we’re busting out our cat-eyes and kitten heels this spring.
In another retro turn, silent film The Artist had us dreaming about a closet filled with glamorous twenties’ looks. Leading lady Berenice Bejo, who perfectly captured the charm of a rising star with her white gloves and jaunty hats, had us running out to buy a cloche as soon as we left the theater.
We’ll be cozying up in front of the TV this weekend and living vicariously through our favorite stars’ wardrobes. Will you be watching?
With the return of 30 Rock tonight, we’re most excited to see our favorite funny girl again. Not Tina Fey or Jane Krakowski – though we love them too – but the only woman who can truly steal a scene from Alec Baldwin: Elizabeth Banks. We’ve been fans of Elizabeth since her campy debut in Wet Hot American Summer, when she showed us that she wasn’t afraid to be silly (or sloppy – remember that make out scene with Paul Rudd?) With roles in everything from the 40 Year Old Virgin to Spider Man, she’s proved herself a versatile and ever-hilarious actress – and she’s equally dynamic on the red carpet.
This girl isn’t afraid of making a statement with stunning colors or unique silhouettes. Whether in a drop-dead-gorgeous chiffon Versace or a cut-out, modern take on the flapper dress, Elizabeth always stands out in the usual sea of safe, neutral-toned shifts (usually doing so with a bright smile and a dirty joke.)
By pairing her fashion-forward choices with simple, pretty hair and makeup, she also avoids looking too over-the-top. And with the fabulous Effie Trinket as Elizabeth’s latest character inspiration, we can’t wait to see what she’ll rock on the Hunger Games tour.

The red carpet was sizzling last night at the 2012 People’s Choice Awards. Celebs were dressed to the nines and wow factors were at an all time high - sheerness, outrageous cuts, and risky styles were abundant! It was hard to narrow it down, but here are a few of our favs!
Ginnifer Goodwin paired a retro fingerwave ‘do and with a thoroughly modern structured, hot pink dress .
Flirty and feminine, Ashley Benson hits a fashion home run with this black and white cocktail dress.
What were your favorite looks of the night?
While I’m cleaning out my lifestyle, why not cleanse my body as well? After reading a blog called The Kind Life, I decided to rid my body of nasty toxins with a cleanse called Kaeng Raeng – a nutritional meal replacement detox program.
The cleanse helps to peel off pounds, relieve bloating, improve digestion, boost immunity, enhance energy, and give you that natural glow. It’s totally vegan, gluten free, and caffeine free. It was kind of pricy, but it seemed well worth it. I mean, it is my body.
I’m only on day 2, but so far I feel great. In the past when I’ve attempted a cleanse, I never got past day 1. With this one, all I have to do is drink one meal replacement pouch 3 times a day for 3 or 6 days. I chose 6 days — I’m going all out. I’m also allowed to eat as many raw fruits and vegetables as I want!
Each pouch contains more than a full serving of fruit and fiber, 15g of lean non-GMO protein, 2 billion live probiotic cultures, essential amino acids, and daily vitamins. The drinks don’t taste as bad as I thought they would, I’m actually able to satisfy myself — I wasn’t expecting that. I’ve also lost 3 pounds and noticed that my skin is clearer…and its only day 2!
Wish me luck and I’ll keep you posted!
Yes, it’s January, but with the temps in New York City swinging from icy to balmy without warning, we’re gearing up for spring — whether it be in three months, or three days. To channel the sleek and airy styles we plan on sporting once the first blooms appear, we’ve rounded up our favorite chic — and edgy — bird accessories for our wardrobes, homes and guys.
