Get bronzed with tarte!
With tarte’s natural line of bronzing products there is no excuse to step out with a see through complexion during the summertime. Remember, there is no such thing as a healthy suntan so if you’re looking for products that give instant faux glow results while leaving your skin looking and feeling gorgeous, you’ve come to the right place. As a self proclaimed reformed sun worshiper, I’m conscious of skin-cancer risks but I still love the way my skin looks tan so whenever there is a new bronzing product being passed around the office- I’m always the first to try. Here is my expert advice on how to get an allover gorgeous glow without the harmful rays. My favorite everyday summer product is tarte’s smooth operator™ Amazonian clay finishing powder in bronze. This lightweight product mattifies my skin (since it tends to get oily after hours in sun) and gives me a gorgeous natural bronzed glow with every application. Love that! I also rely on tarte’s glam gams to transform my pale stems to bronzed and beautiful; giving me the confidence I need to step out on a hot summer night.
What tarte product do you rely on for a natural summer glow?

Get Enchanted… Everybody!
Just like a perfectly broken-in pair of jeans, the right lip color should be comfortable, flattering, and make you feel fabulous about yourself when wearing it. But is there one tone that looks good on every one? For years, you’ve read that if you have pink undertones, you should wear this shade, or if you have olive skin, that shade will work best. But guess what? tarte’s Lipsurgence™ natural lip tint in enchanted flatters literally every girl under the sun – whether she’s blond or brunette, tawny-skinned or alabaster.
As a freelance makeup artist for tarte, I work with women of all ages and ethnicities. tarte’s incredible high-performance natural™ line has specific shades that flatter every complexion, from the palest porcelain to the deepest walnut. However, at tarte events (check out an Ulta or Sephora near you!), I often find myself reaching for enchanted over and over. It’s a beautiful medium rose that, when applied, is the perfect “your lips, but better” shade. No need to struggle with a tricky lip brush or sharpener, because it’s packaged like a chubby crayon that you can twist up and slick right on. With its staining power, it lasts from sunrise to sunset with no need for touch-ups! What could be better for a busy beauty like you?
To show all of you fabulous tartelettes how versatile enchanted is I’ve applied it on three gorgeous tarte staffers here at our office, all with dramatically different complexions and coloring. For intensity purposes, I’ve also applied it in three styles for various occasions – for casual weekend-wear, for long days at the office, and for a fun night out.
So, like those super-slimming jeans you’ve had for years –you know the ones that make your sharp blazer and heels look downtown or dress up your super-comfy sweatshirts—enchanted will be your new go-to, whether you’re out dancing or lounging around the house (glamorously, of course!).
Will you be enchanted?

Get the Look:
The beautiful Kate Bosworth arrived at the premiere of L!fe Happens not only wearing a gorgeous pink number, but also decked out in tarte. Celebrity makeup artist Amy Nadine wanted to give her a look that would compliment her hot pink Richard Nicoll dress. She “opted for a simple and soft look to highlight Kate’s natural beauty.” She incorporated delicate pops of pink on her cheeks and lips. Following Amy’s easy steps, there’s no reason why you can’t replicate Kate’s look at home!
Makeup—complexion
- To begin Amy applied tarte’s smooth operator™ tinted moisturizer in agent 04 all over Kate’s skin with a foundation brush.
- For the area below her eyes, she used tarte’s new maracuja creaseless concealer in light.
- She then used tarte’s smooth operator™ Amazonian clay finishing powder in bronze as a contour on the hollows of the cheek
Makeup—cheeks
- For a subtle glow, she used tarte’s natural cheek stain in blissful, a warm peachy-pink, on the apples of her cheeks and along her cheekbones dusted tarte’s Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in dollface for a hint of pink.
Makeup—eyes
- To ensure that her look lasted through the evening, Amy used tarte’s lifted natural eyelid primer.
- Using the new tarte™ for True Blood™ limited-edition palette, Amy applied charmer (sparkling burnt copper/golden peach) in the crease and dawn (shimmering gold dust) all over the lid.
- For volume and separation on her upper lashes, Amy used tarte’s gifted Amazonian clay smart mascara.
- To frame Kate’s eyes, Amy used tarte’s emphasEYES brow high definition eyebrow pencil in medium brown (one shade darker).
Makeup—lips
- To complete Kate’s “pretty in pink” look, Amy used tarte’s LipSurgence lip tint in amused (bright pink) on her pout.

Fresh Look for Winter 2011
Happy New Year tartelettes! I hope it was happy, healthy and chock full of resolutions (please share below & give others inspiration). For 2011 my resolutions seem a bit unoriginal, but nonetheless, I feel they’re extremely important. Like 99% of the population fitness is at the top of my list. However, I’m changing up my routine and spending lots of free time snowboarding! Along with firming up the bod, I’m trying to eat healthy and aiming to be a better version of myself. As I begin the process of reinvigorating from the inside out, I’m also going with a fresh new look to match my rejuvenated attitude (relaxed, centered & glowing). I’ve pulled together my fresh winter 2011 look for you above—what do you think?
I’m counting on my exercise and healthy eating (lot’s of greens & colorful foods) to banish that dull winter skin. If I need any additional glow I can count on tarte’s smooth operator™ Amazonian Clay illuminating serum
Additionally, I’ll be warding off winter lips and achieving the perfect nude/pink pout with my fRxtion lip exfoliator and balm and LipSurgence™ natural matte lip tint in exposed. With our complexion in check let’s show it off with the perfect knot. High or low, the ballerina bun is back and so effortless; plus, it will take me from work-to-gym. Last but not least, I want warm comfy clothes that are both relaxed and pulled together. What’s better and more season appropriate than the perfect fair isle sweater? I love both the playfulness and comfort in the choices above, either option can be paired with skinnies and chic booties. So, as I’ve closed the door on 2010 and said hello to 2011, I’m in search of the best year, yet! Fingers crossed I’ve got myself started in the right direction. Tell us about your new look for 2011! GET THE LOOK: Indigo Eyes!
Before I even started flipping through the pages of July’s Essence magazine, I was mesmerized by the issue’s cover girl: the beautiful Jada Pinkett Smith. Jada’s makeup looks absolutely flawless and it’s a great day & night look. Her immaculate complexion & lightly glossed lips really make her indigo cat-eyes pop right off the page. I’ll admit blue liner is not something I would typically reach for, but this oceanic hue is a hot summer trend that brightens the white’s of your eyes on a whole new level! It’s actually super simple to replicate with a cream liner. My fave is tarte’s emphasEYES™ clay shadow/liner in indigo (Essence gave its nod of approval as well, because it’s featured in plum on page 30 of this issue!); it even comes with the appropriate brush for the perfect application!
