Plans for the weekend? How about watching me live on QVC this Sunday, at 7am and 4pm EST for The Joy of Giving Weekend. I’m sooo excited for you to see our Old Hollywood- inspired holiday collections! I can’t wait to share with you what makes each one unique, and the perfect gift (for that loved one, including YOU!).
What I love about appearing on QVC is that I can talk to YOU, tell you why my team and I created a certain beauty product and show you how to use it! It’s so fun to hear from you—so please continue to call in, tweet and post your own personal stories, too.
To kick off the gift-giving season, we’ll be raffling off a set of our puttin’ on the glitz limited-edition color collection & clutch to one lucky twitter follower.
It’s easy to enter the raffle, just tweet #maureenonscreen @QVC with @tartecosmetics #puttinontheglitz: http://ow.ly/7inDj during either show. The tartelettes and I will select a winner at random and announce them on@tartecosmetics on Monday.
Remember: tap into your inner glamour girl by tuning into QVC at 7am and 4pm EST this Sunday, then tweet to enter our puttin’ on the glitz raffle.
Good luck, tartelettes!
Unfortunately, at this time our twitter raffles are only open to US residents.
It’s no secret that Halloween is one of our favorite holidays here at tarte! Not only do we indulge in sweets and costumes, but we love to see celebs getting into the spooky spirit too. Here are our favorite celebrity Halloween costumes of 2011.
Left to right: Liv Tyler as Cat Woman, Kim Kardashian as Poison Ivy, Holly Madison as Rapunzel, Heidi Klum as a living biology lesson, and below is Debra Messing in Day of the Dead makeup.
Like a lot of you, we’ve been swept away by ABC’s new fairytale drama Once Upon a Time. The show’s premise is that all of our favorite childhood storybook characters have been cursed, forced to live in modern times, had their memories wiped and are all inhabiting a small town in Maine. Not only is this a refreshing take on the Brothers Grimm, but the dual timeline gives the actors the opportunity to play two characters, showcasing various personalities, styles and beauty looks.
Take one of our favorite cast members, Ginnifer Goodwin. The actress, whose gamine face has pretty much ensured her the ingénue role for the rest of the decade, manages to pull off two flawless and fashionable looks simultaneously. As pre-cursed Snow White and modern schoolteacher Mary Margaret Blanchard, she frequently swaps out one color palette for another in a single episode, sporting icy cool shades in one scene and a sweet, dewy look in the next.
Bravo Ginny! You nail them both.
Fancy yourself a modern Snow White, or do you think you rock the soft, sweet style of a small town beauty? To achieve either character’s pristine porcelain look follow the how-to below.
Snow White’s cool beauty:
Complexion: provocateur pressed mineral powder in fair
Lashes: lights, camera, lashes! mascara
Mary Margaret Blanchard’s lovely, warm glow:
Complexion: smooth sperator™ tinted moisturizer in agent 06
Striking and boldly feminine, the cat eye is a makeup classic. That thick slash of black eyeliner on the top lid is both girlie and mysterious — and it’s definitely back in style.
While the ladies of Mad Men have been sporting the look for a couple of years now, new shows like Pam Am — an office obsession — and The Playboy Club — no one’s obsession — have made it hard to escape the timeless style, no matter what channel you’re on. Considering that the cat eye was originally popularized by beauty icons as versatile as Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn and factory girl Eddie Sedgwick, why wouldn’t you give it a try?
So go ahead, dip your toe into the pool of retro glam. In fact we’ll help you take the plunge. We asked Jen to film a quick and easy beginners guide to applying a softer, daytime cat eye with our multiplEYE lash enhancing liquid eyeliner. Check it out and let us know what you think!
Anyone one who tunes into watch our Founder and CEO Maureen Kelly on QVC knows that she introduces some amazing new products on air. Hollywood makeup artist Florido Basallo used tarte cosmetics to create actress Jennifer Carpenter’s glowing look for last night’s Emmys.
The Inspiration: “Jennifer’s dress for the Emmy’s was gleaming with elegance. I wanted to complement it by giving her glowing, sun-kissed skin, with lined lids and lashes.” –Florido Basallo
Eyes: For fluttery lashes, he double coated her lashes using tarte’s lights, camera, lashes! clinically-proven mascara, then lined her eyes with tarte’s multiplEYE™ clinically-proven lash enhancing liquid liner to define her lashline. He also added definition to her brows with tarte’s Amazonian clay waterproof brow mousse in taupe.
Lips: For a simple yet sexy shot of shine, he added tarte’s LipSurgence™ lip luster in adored.

Last night celebrity makeup artist, Matthew Vanleeuwen, created a gorgeous look for Emmy’s presenter Minka Kelly using tarte cosmetics.
The Inspiration: “Minka’s dress had this amazing 40s feel to it, so I wanted her makeup to be a modern, fashionable twist on that classic 40s look.” –Matthew Vanleeuwen
Complexion: First, he smoothed tarte’s smooth operator™ Amazonian clay illuminating serum all over to brighten Minka’s complexion. Then he blended tarte’s Amazonian clay full-coverage foundation in tan to even out her skin tone. He dusted tarte’s smooth operator™ micronized clay finishing powder under the eyes and down the nose to set her makeup and minimize shine, and brushed tarte’s smooth operator™ Amazonian clay finishing powder in bronze over her cheeks, chin, and forehead to add a soft contour.
Cheeks: He made her cheeks pop by dusting tarte’s Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in blissful from the apples of her cheeks, up along her cheekbones.
Eyes: Vanleeuwen used shadows from tarte’s neutralEYES eye shadow palette volume II. He started by brushing matte taupe over the entire lids, blending it over the creases, and up and out onto the brow bones. Then he pressed shimmering soft peach onto the lids and into the lashlines. He added depth by blending matte plum from the outer corners of the creases to the middle of the lids. He defined her eyes by lining her lashlines with emphasEYES™ aqua-gel liner in black, and then going over the line with tarte’s multiplEYE™ clinically-proven lash enhancing liquid liner, and extending it just past her lashlines for a subtle winged effect. He finished with two coats of tarte’s lights, camera, lashes! clinically-proven mascara on upper lashes and a subtle coat on her lower lashes.
Lips: Vanleeuwen layered two colors to create Minka’s fresh berry pout. He used tarte’s LipSurgence™ matte lip tint in hope to add a natural,rosy-looking color, then finished with tarte’s LipSurgence™ lip luster in Pouty for an added dose of shine.
