Retro glam, sleek metallics and glossy locks ruled the red carpet at last night’s American Music Awards, Nicki Manaj and Katy Perry battled it out for most outrageous outfit, and Taylor Swift snagged her Artist of The Year Award in a simple ponytail – but what really caught our eye was the flawless, lovely lip shades we spotted on nearly every songbird and starlet in attendance.
From Audrina Patridge’s deep berry pucker, to the soft, sweet pink shades on Heidi Klum and Selena Gomez – last night was all about the pout. Here, we’ve rounded up the best beauty looks of the night.
To replicate these perfect lip shades at home try our LipSurgence™ matte lip tints. For Taylor’s subtle hue, we recommend exposed. Want Selena’s perfect pink? Pick up the shade lucky. To try Audrina’s to-die-for berry pout we suggest layering envy and hope.
MTV’s Video Music Awards have a reputation for wild fashion and shocking stunts, but last night’s red carpet was downright sedate compared to shows of the past. Retro glam and classic makeup looks took center stage as the biggest names in the music industry were honored, and while there were a lot of lovely ladies, only a handful truly blew us away.
Here, we’ve counted down our favorite beauty looks, and how you can recreate them at home.
Even with minimal makeup, Beyoncé looked absolutely radiant last night — pregnancy seems to agree with her. Get the Look: Amazonia clay shimmering powder in rose.
Known for her outrageous and playful style, Katy Perry did not disappoint. She did however keep her makeup relatively conservative, and absolutely flawless. Get the look: LipSurgence natural lip tint in amused.
Channeling one of the major themes of the night, old school glamour, songbird Adele wore dark, smoky lashes and only a hint of color on her cheeks. Get the look: lights, camera, lashes! clinically-proven natural mascara.
Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber’s main squeeze, shed her Disney skin last night. She looked elegant and sophisticated with a subtle, smoky eye and softly glowing skin. Get the look: natural cheek stain in dollface.
Do you agree with our choices? Who else do you think should have made the top four?
The bikini countdown has begun and like Forrest, I’m taking to the roads to shave off a few unwelcomed lbs that made their way onto my waistline this winter. I’m headed into battle in my stylish, yet functional Nike Shox Trainers. I’ve got my iPod loaded with my favorite “move my tush” songs like Rihanna’s “S&M” and Black Eyed Pea’s “Just Can’t Get Enough”. If all else fails, then I can always turn to my trusty tarte glam gams to give me a sunkissed glow that’s sure to make my pale legs look firmer and taut. Hey, I’m definitely not above fakin’ it till I make it! Then, off I go!
I’d love to hear what you ladies are doing to get ready for summer!! Please share your tips & tricks below!

I’ve been buying a lot of music from itunes lately to update my ipod and I discovered something new, “i tunes essentials”! Basically itunes created mixes of songs from all different years and genres. Some of my favorites are “60′s Rock”, “Alternative Hip Hop”, Total Workout” (perfect for workout sessions with Levi)! -Erica
I was just reading the line up for the Coachella music festival in Indio, California this year, and the article mentioned that the same promoters are launching a similar music event on the east coast, at Liberty State park in New Jersey. The festival won’t be quite the same as Coachella where most concert goers camp out in the desert, instead trains and ferries will shuttle people in for the 3 day event along the waterside with the Statue of Liberty and lower Manhattan as a beautiful back drop. Major headliners like Radiohead are expected to be announced. I can’t wait, sounds like a pretty cool event!
I just got back from Mexico for my brother-in-law’s wedding (congrats Vin & Jess!), which was SO much fun, even though it kinda threw me out of the holiday season. (On the way home, I had to listen to Christmas songs on my iPod to get myself back in the mood and prepare for the impending cold.) But what is it about taking one vacation that makes you immediately need to plan another? While we were drinking mojitos poolside, we got in a huge conversation about going to Italy in February…now I’m ready to book it today. And I might actually do it. -Alexis
~Last sunday my friend and I made the trek to Randall’s Island for the Farm Aid benefit concert started by Dave Matthews which works to keep family farmers on their land. I’m a huge Dave fan and was so excited to see him perform along with Willie Nelson and Neil Young, BUT the show was so poorly coordinated that the bathroom lines exceed an hour! So basically the whole day was spent in line, either waiting for food and beverages, or waiting for the bathroom. And I know we weren’t the only ones that felt this way so I need everyone to speak up and let the promoters know that the lines ruined the whole experience!! boo. -heather r
