best dressed at the People’s Choice Awards 2012

The red carpet was sizzling last night at the 2012 People’s Choice Awards. Celebs were dressed to the nines and wow factors were at an all time high - sheerness, outrageous cuts, and risky styles were abundant! It was hard to narrow it down, but here are a few of our favs!

The sheerness, the length, the neckline – we’re obsessed  with everything about Vanessa Hudgen’s Jenny Packham gown.

We love the short and sweet style in which award winner Nina Dobrev opted to go green!

Miley Cyrus looked stunning in this sophisticated, yet edgy dress – sheer, deep necklines were the trend of the night!

Ooh la la! Juliana Hough fearlessly sauntered down the red carpet in this incredible, backless number.

Ginnifer Goodwin paired a retro fingerwave ‘do and with a thoroughly modern structured, hot pink dress .

The boldly peachy color and slight Grecian influence of Demi Lovato’s gown is genius. Oh, yeah, we’d also like to add, va va va-vooom!

Flirty and feminine, Ashley Benson hits a fashion home run with this black and white cocktail dress.

Honorable mention: Lucy Hale certainly took quite a risk with this gown . We applaud her fashion guts and think she pulled it off.

What were your favorite looks of the night?

birds of a feather: ‘fly’ accessories for spring

Yes, it’s January, but with the temps in New York City swinging from icy to balmy without warning, we’re gearing up for spring — whether it be in three months, or three days. To channel the sleek and airy styles we plan on sporting once the first blooms appear, we’ve rounded up our favorite chic — and edgy — bird accessories for our wardrobes, homes and guys.

Clockwise from left: Betsey Johnson glitter owl stretch ring; Wendy Mink gold plated hammered bird cuff; mother nesting birds necklace at Uncommongoods; St. Joshua Gold Swallow bird cuff links; Aslan’s Garden Bird On A Wire hook; birds jewelry stand at Urban Outfitters; and in the middle, my favorite of these soaring accessories, Absolute™ Brown and Champagne feather pendant by Laura M.

So spread those wings tartelettes, and rock these little birdies regardless of the season!

Manolo Blahnik’s Earth-Friendly New Collection

Good morning tartelettes!

Have you heard,  Manolo Blahnik’s gone green?! The infamous powerhouse has a new sustainable shoe collection, and it’s everything an eco-conscious fashionista could ask for and more! I love reading about these type of collaborations, especially when related to my most favorite accessory: shoes! Designer Marcia Patmos was asked to create an eco-friendly line for the label, and after spending a considerable amount of time researching sustainable material, came up with two incredible styles made out of tilapia skin (interestingly enough a byproduct from the food industry), cork and raffia. These beautiful shoes — an adorable open-toe flat and a sexy, strappy sandal — come in gorgeous color combinations: nude, yellow, black and electric blue.

These are the first earth-friendly designs to be released by Manolo Blahnik and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see the fashion heavyweight take up the green cause! Like we always say, luxury and sustainability are not mutually exclusive. What do you gals think of the latest eco-friendly creations?

Style Envy: Emily Blunt’s Modern Chic

We love our Brits: the attitude, the accents, the style! Take Emily Blunt for instance, she not only has amazing cheekbones but a fantastic fashion sense as well. Emily always looks put together and her classic, yet modern wardrobe makes her this week’s style star. Perhaps she picked up a few style tips while on the set of The Devil Wears Prada — but I have a hunch she was just born chic!

Absolutely adorable, fashionably fearless, we tip our trendy caps to you Emily.

Cheerio tartelettes!
