best-dressed at Coachella

April showers is right! This past weekend was dreary through much of the northeast. But, in California, the weather was sunny and cheerful – perfect for Coachella. Thousands of celebs and regular folk alike flocked to the music fest for an epic lineup that included big names like The Black Keys and Dr. Dre, as well as some of our indie favorites (St. Vincent!)

With the Woodstock vibe that pervades this particular festival, the go-to style is hippie or hipster chic – usually, with a beachy twist (bikinis being de rigeuer) — we wished we could have gone ourselves to soak up some sun and sounds, but we’ll settle for some glamorous photos instead.  Below, a few of the best-dressed women at Coachella.

Kate Bosworth was a festival style star, rocking both ends of the spectrum in a skintight dress one day and cut-offs the next.

“Tiger-print romper” might sound unappealing, but Emma Watson can do no fashion wrong. We love how she combined this wild piece with neutral, stylish accessories.

We’re used to seeing Lauren Conrad all dressed up, so we really dig her relaxed and carefree look .

Lindsay Lohan looked put-together in a lace romper and matching, sky-high  lace-up shoes.

Diane Kruger ran around in fun nautical pattern and low booties, looking both casual and chic — you can’t go wrong with sailor stripes!

Mischa Barton, looking fresh and healthy, rocked California-casual: keds and cutoffs.

L!fe Happens!

Last night we had the pleasure of hosting a screening of L!fe Happens, a hilarious new comedy written and starring one of our favorite Hollywood up-and-comers, Krysten Ritter. The film is the product of a collaboration between Ritter and one of her best friends Kat Coiro, and was cast and staffed with some of Ritter’s most-talented nearest and dearest, including celebrity makeup artist Amy Nadine.

Nadine, a long time tarte fan — so is Ritter! — used our LipSurgence™ lip tints in every scene!

To celebrate the film’s premiere, we invited a group of beauty bloggers to join us for the screening, which included a Q&A with Ritter and Nadine!

L!fe Happens beauty roll call: in the film Ritter wore our lip tint in spirited, while Kate Bosworth wore our matte lip tint in hope and Rachel Bilson wore our matte lip tint in lucky.

Get tweeting tartelettes and good luck!

girl crush: Kate Bosworth

Sporty and sweet with a touch of ethereal beauty, Kate Bosworth is the perfect mix of girl-next-door cute and Hollywood bombshell, and, if you ask us, totally crush worthy. Plus she’s a tartelette! She wore our LipSurgence matte lip tint in lively to the premiere of her newest movie, Life Happens  (also staring the amazing Krysten Ritter — check out the trailer below).  She rarely makes the tabloids — something else we love about her –  and has the skills to play campy, gloomy, sexy, or the dreaded best friend role and still rock the screen.

Who’s your girl crush?

best-dressed: Sundance style

The Sundance Film Festival is like the cool, downtown, little sister to all the other awards shows, with fashion just as independent and unique as the films. Forget those glamorous ball gowns and major labels; it’s all about rocker boots, great winter coats, and taking fun risks. tarte had the pleasure of spending some time at the festival, where we had the opportunity to see a few of our favorite actress and learn a thing or two about Sundance style.

Elizabeth Olsen

Lizzie Olsen is proving to be as much of a style maven as her older sisters. We love when celebrities play with colors and patterns; Olsen’s bright yellow sweater pairs nicely with her black-and-white scarf. And those corduroys! Doesn’t she look cozy?

Emily Blunt

Emily Blunt rarely fails to look sophisticated and cool. And Sundance is all about cool. She hits the perfect balance between relaxed and red-carpet with this velvet tunic and booties.

Lake Bell

We applaud celebrities who take risks, whether with bold colors, unusual silhouettes, or lesser-known designers. Lake Bell is rocking this aqua shift – funky cut-out neckline, curve-hugging bodice, and all. The only thing that could add to this look? A sleek side-part and a smoky eye.

Estelle

British songstress Estelle never shies away from “a look,” so this blouse-jeans-pumps combo is relatively understated for her. But we love the pop of shimmer on the leopard print blouse, especially when paired with sparkly heels and a knockout red lip.

Kate Bosworth

Even in the middle of a snowstorm, Kate Bosworth manages to look pulled-together, with a statement bag, a hooded coat, and a splash of color. (Oh, and major sunglasses, of course!)

…And she cleans up nicely. Nothing’s sexier than sheer black sleeves on a ladylike evening dress.

Tinsley Mortimer

The socialite always looks chic, but we love that she toned things down for the laid-back festival. Nothing is cooler than taking casual elements, like nautical stripes and a slouchy hat, and glamming them up a bit – here, with a wooly vest and perfect, glossy waves.

Liv Tyler

Liv Tyler is our go-to girl for fashion surprises. She has great eclectic style, and she isn’t afraid of wearing whatever she wants on the carpet. (She is a rock star’s daughter, after all.) So seeing her in this fuzzy, oversize sweater and motorcycle boots just makes us smile – and her impish grin tells us even she’s not taking herself too seriously. Who can blame her? She still looks gorgeous.
