best dressed of the CFDA awards

There is nothing I love more then red-hot stars on a red-hot carpet, and if there was ever an event to showcase extraordinary style, it’s the CFDA awards – the Council of Fashion Designers of America. When it comes to stunning styles and show-stopping looks, this year was no exception. Stars were turning heads and stealing headlines with amazing silhouettes, draping, and color.

It was hard to choose, but we narrowed it down to five ladies we feel deserve our red carpet best-dressed nod.

Sophia Bush

The former One Tree Hill actress proved that she’s become a serious style star.

girl crush: Elizabeth Olsen

We’re not going to lie: when we were growing up, we drew most of our fashion inspiration from a mischief-making pair of girls who went by the singular title of “Mary-Kate and Ashley.” Even now, we still find ourselves seeking out the latest photo shoots and interviews of the stylish duo to find out what we should be wearing. So, when younger sister Elizabeth appeared on the Hollywood scene last year, we thought, “Poor girl! Who could stand out from the long shadow of MK&A?”

We needn’t have worried. Little Lizzie has proven to be a full-blown actress and style maven in her own right. With her ability to rock both vintage glam and hipster cool, she’s our new favorite girl crush.

coffee break: celebs and their caffeine

There’s nothing like a hot cup of Joe, whether it’s first thing in the morning or any early afternoon pick-me-up — I love my coffee. And apparently, I’m not the only one; here are some candid shots of some of our favorite celebs caffeinating themselves in public.

Ryan Reynolds gets his caffeine fix with a furry friend.

Rachel Bilson grabs a cup of Joe on the go.

Miley Cyrus looks like she’s been up  all night….hope that’s a double shot in there…

It’s amazing how Mila Kunis can make grabbing an ice coffee in an awkward motion shot look lovely.

Michael Cerra wouldn’t be a true hipster without a coffe in his hand. But not Starbucks…that’s against hipster law.

Caffeine queen Mary-Kate Olsen’s hand has literally morphed into the shape of a Starbucks grande cup… true love or true addiction?

Kim Kardashion looks oh-so-chic with those oversized aviator sunnies and grande Starbucks…go Kim!

If Kate Hudson didn’t have that sip of coffe to keep her alert before stepping off this curb she might have fallen. Coffee….saving one life at a time.

Is it just us, or Emma Roberts taunting non-Californians with her  a tank top and iced coffee?  Yeah, we know, it’s always sunny in California.

Love birds Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux casually stroll side by side,  coffee cups in hand.

The Olsen twins have done it again!

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have found yet another fashion venture to tackle. The designers of The Row and Elizabeth James label are now designing and merchandising chic t-shirts on stylemint.com for only $29.99. To enroll in this exclusive program you must sign up and answer a few quick questions to define your style. Once finished, you can choose from an assortment of t-shirts that cater to your preferred style. I love how the collections will change monthly and as that happens they’ll continue to sort out the styles specifically for you. Also, Mary-Kate and Ashley will offer monthly style advice to help dress up a basic tee for a night out or make it more casual for daytime, and nothing goes better with a T than tarte’s LipSurgence™ lip tints and lusters–buff for day and amused for night!

I personally love v-necks! What style t-shirt do you prefer?!

Jen

Influence

A recent addition to my collection of coffee table books is Influence, the new compilation of interviews from Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. These twins seem to have had business savvy characteristics in their blood since birth and this next accomplishment they can add to that lengthy tally. This near 300 page book features 20 interviews (some together, some separate) with an array of influential icons, some of which they have known for years and others they were meeting for the first time. I loved their choice of individuals and thought it was a great representation of art, fashion and lifestyle. My personal favorite was Diane Von Furstenberg a woman I myself admire. Another great caption was with writer Bob Colacello, where MK couldn’t get enough about the days of partying in the factory with Andy Warhol (possibly why she is always spotted at swanky joints such as the Beatrice Inn.) All-in-all bravo to the Olsen’s! What a fabulous glimpse into some of the most creative and influential minds!
